It is well designed and the parts are sturdier than I was expecting. The only thing I would add, is that you should be very careful to straighten the liner out so that it is equidistant from the vertical supports. It is difficult to do after there is about 3" in the pool. Just an FYI... We have had the pool up for about a week and with 4 rambunctious grand kids REALLY enjoying it for a few days in a row, it is no worse for wear. The filter does seem a little small for the size of the pool, but so far it appears to be keeping up. The long cord on the filter is nice. The only real criticism I have is that the plastic clamps leave a little to be desired. One of the kids (the curious 5yr old) pulled the strainer out of the hose assembly on the side of the pool. I'm 5'11" and can sit on the bottom with the water at my shoulders. I had 5 kids age 2-8 in it today and all had enough space to have fun and play safely. Very happy with our purchase. It's not built to last forever, but if you take care of it I can see it easily lasting 3-5 years. For around $100, you can't beat that. I upgraded my pump and added a salt water chlorinator, and it's super easy to take care of now, but if you want to do regular chlorine I doubt it would be too hard to manage with the small volume. It's only 1400 gallons. On occasion you need to add a PH lower solution or a water clarifier product of some kind. Really depends on how often you use the pool. Bottom line is the 12ft by 3Ft pools, which I've had forever (gone through 4 of them since my kids were born) really don;t require a ton of maintenance. Just keep the filter clean. Rinse it out once a week and keep the pool shocked and with tablets at all time and you should be fine. The test strips help with diagnose pretty much everything. Happy swimming. **Q: I'm close to getting my first pool. What's the difference the Intex "prizm frame' vs their "metal frame" pools?** A: Both are metal frames. The Prism frame is made of rounded pipes and the top ring clips together using providing plastic clips; the Ultra frame pipes are flatter at the top and made to connect together (sort of - not with plastic clips). Not sure the price difference between the two is worth it. **Q: Does the grass/ground need to be perfectly leveled for this pool?** A: Its needs to be pretty near to spot on. Mine is only 2 inches off and it looks significant. Unlevel ground riskes structural failure of the pool. So its possible to have have it on unlevel ground but not advisable. Its also advised that you put a super heavy duty tarp between the pool and grass as weeds and grass can still grow through the liner. **Q: How often should I run the pump?** A: 4-6 hours a day, I usually run mine late evening. Some run theirs 24/7. Main thing is to clean the filter at least once a week. I actually bought the regular size pump and run it only about 2 hours. It's about $40, filters are cheaper and easier to find. They last longer too. It took my husband approx 1 hr to set it up with the help of a 6yo and 3 yo. We are first time "poolers" with 2 kids who do not know how to swim so this is perfect since they can both stand in it. We also arent ready to give up our yard and swing set for a big pool. The size is perfect for little ones. If a grown up goes in dont really plan to "swim" in it. You'll feel like an orca in sea world. I would have given 5 stars but one of the filter hoses came with a pin hole in it which water sprays out of. We upgraded the filter which came with hoses so Im just swapping them. But that would have been a pain if i had to return it and wait for a new one. We also purchased this since I wanted to do a salt water pool and intex has the upgrades.
