The media could not be loaded. This takoyaki maker is awesome! Super easy to use and makes perfect octopus balls. I've also made poffertjes and filled with a triple berry compote. Sweet or savory, you will not be disappointed.

After looking at a lot of different takoyaki cookers (mostly electric), I found this one and read a bunch of the reviews (english and japanese). I originally had bought a cast-iron pan that i could use on the stove but found it to be really difficult to distribute heat properly. After purchasing this one, I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to find the right butane canisters for it, as amazon won't ship them to california, but i realized that all butane canisters have a notch cut out, so i bought some from a local liquor store and they work great! also, all of the instructions were in japanese but i was able to find a manual for a different iwatani cassette burner in english that had all of the same safety precautions, so then i started to feel better. now that that's all out of the way, here's how i feel about this product:i love how easy it is to attach the butane canister. i love how the heat is distributed. the two rows farther from where the butane enters the u-pipe get a bit less flame than the two rows closer, so i just start pouring the batter on the side that will take a bit longer. the pan doesn't retain as much heat as a cast-iron pan would, so the takoyaki cooks more evenly. whatever coating the pan has makes it easy to flip the spheres when they're ready, and the grooves in between each half-sphere are awesome for breaking apart the pieces as the batter overflows in the cooking process.i've only used this twice so far, but i have a feeling it will become a regularly used appliance in our home. couldn't be happier with this purchase.

Don't bother with those electric ones - they're impossible to clean because it's all one non-detachable piece and the heating element is always so uneven. This thing is worth it, the outer walls on the hotplate are high enough to keep everything contained (biggest problem with the electric ones - big spills and mess every time), and a gas grill really is just plain better. I'm already using this all the time and it's so much easier.

The major struggle with Electric Heat Takoyaki Maker is that it takes a very long time for cooking. I can cook lot faster than using a electric one

While not as cheap as buying this in Japan, I'm super grateful to be able have this shipped internationally.The pan quality is amazing. Its non-stick and heavy weight. Takoyaki brown up beautifully but don't stick even without much oil. Great.The temperature is very uniform. And its easy to use.The gas canisters are cheap and readily available.No complaints!

If you are used to make takoyaki you gonna love this. Controlling the heat helps a lot, different from electrical ones you just turn on/off. Higher heat helps on the ends where the fire is a bit weaker than thru the body, but doing with the medium heat and using the hogh on the end works just fine.
