Got this for my 11 yr old and he really enjoyed it

Easy to plant.

The kit comes to you complete with inoculated wood plugs, a drill, wax, and instructions. I had fresh cut oak logs available. I followed directions and inoculated 2 logs with about 3/4 of the provided plugs, painted the sites with melted wax, and waited. And waited. And waited some more. 8 months later I found one (1) lonely Shiitake mushroom. All in all a pricey experiment.

The chart I posted is the information you need to make the proper decision as to what log you need for the mushroom you have chosen. The site said hardwood, so I harvested a walnut tree. When I received my spores they won’t grow in a walnut log. What a inconvenience. Customer service would not make it right. It was there mistake. They said they didn’t even know if they could put the chart on Amazon. I did it now if you read this review you can make an informed decision. I suggest another brand.

It was a nice kit that has everything you need. However it didn’t work for me, but that totally could be my fault.

I gave this as a gift to my dad. He loved it! Said it was easy to use. Can’t wait to see his mushrooms when they finally start growing!
