I Almost Loved You...
The media could not be loaded. ย Oh, I wanted to like this so much. It looks cool! It sounds great! This is the signature Ampeg sound. So what's the problem? It. Just. Isn't. Loud. Enough. Now I don't understand wattage but I also have a cheap solid state Fender Rumble "40 Watt" bass amp that is twice as loud/full as this "200 Watt" Ampeg. Also... there's a noisy fan inside this thing. So if you thought of keeping this around for a recording studio rig, consider constant fan noise. I did have the 2X10 cab that goes with this head. I've read that this rig doesn't meet its full potential unless you have TWO 2X10 cabs. But at that point you're in over $1K. There are better options out there at this price point (that can compete with a drum kit and don't have fan noise). There are even plenty of other Ampeg options. Ampeg knows they could do this thing correctly but then who would buy their super heavy stadium amps? I return the whole thing.

Sounds great for guitar and bass both but unreliable.
This thing sounds GREAT! I have a 70's tube bass amp and this amp sounds just as good in fact better in some ways. I play it through the matching cab. I also plugged it into my 2 X 12 guitar cabinet and if you dial up the treble, maybe back off the bass a bit, it makes a very capable guitar amp as well. It can get obviously more of a bassy guitar sound which I like. It sounds great with bass and also guitar. And I mean not "for a bass amp" I mean it is a really good guitar ampntoo through a guitar speaker cabinet. It is also dual voltage which makes it a great travel amp as well for bass or guitar!EDIT: I went through 2 of these amps and they just stopped working after a month of hardly any use in a home setup. These amps sound and look great but they are simply unreliable as other reviewers have stated.

Huge sound from a small amp
Bought this along with the matching 2x10 cabinet. So far I have not been able to get a bad sound from it - the tone variance is not dramatic yet allows you to tailor the sound to what you want. The sound is super tight and punchy. I am still amazed at how much sound this thing produces - I can't wait to try it with a second cabinet to get the full 200 watts. So far I have tried it with a Fender Precision Lyte, Kubicki Ex Factor, Fender P-bass with flat wounds, and a StingRay - all sound fantastic ... especially the StingRay. There is fan sound, but nothing that is even noticeable, much less a nuisance, while playing. I would highly recommend this amp for practice and band rehearsals - the aux input for an iPod or other player, and headphone jack do the perfect job for learning an practicing songs.

Great amp just unreliable
Hi, I bought the SVT micro VR Bass head and matching cab just about a month ago and absolutely loved it. Was ready to give it a 5 star rating. When all of a sudden it lost 50% of it's volume and started making a hissing noise. I stopped playing and turned the power off and unplugged the bass and power cord waited a couple of minutes and plugged it all back in and it was working normal again. The next day I went to play and this time it started up with the same hiss and low volume. I decided it was time to send it back with great disappointment for a refund. Still waiting!!! I think this time I'll try the PF 350 and hope for better luck. Really to bad it was a nice amp.

I love this amp
I love this amp! I pair it with the Micro 2x10 cab.Very very portable, Very good tone.I use for jazz gigs, sounds great with an upright. I've never had to turn it past 7 for those.Brought it to a practice with my other band (high powered funk, loud drummer, loud everyone actually) and it isn't nearly loud enough, but that's okay cause this amp isn't made for that setting. I have another rig for that setting, but it's a backbreaker.

Great Value
This head was my first Ampeg purchase and I liked it enough to invest in two of the SVT-210AV cabs. It's light and moreover sounds great and is plenty loud enough for my needs. With two cabs the head runs at it's best, but sounds good with just one. Is it loud enough to gig? Yes, with two cabs it is(unless you're playing arenas, if so just run through the PA). Best practice amp out there IMHO, if you play it, you'll buy it.

Small but mighty
With its compact size and paired with the 210 cab its great. It has 200 watts of power and is great for practice and easy to haul to small gigs. And with XLR outputs you can run it through a PA or mixing board and have that iconic Ampeg sound.

Super light and provides the great Ampeg tone that I ...
Super light and provides the great Ampeg tone that I can no longer live without. Great for bringing it to jam sessions or small gigs because of its portability. Puts out a great amount of power for such a little unit. Very easy to get a good tone in the mix with a band with this bass head. For the price, you can't go wrong. Expertly shipped as it was packaged up very well to ensure no damage during shipping. This bass head totally turned me on to Ampeg as it is now the benchmark for bass sound as far as I'm concerned.
