Excellent book on ANTIQUE Typewriters
This is a very nice, beautiful 200+ pages tome that is full of great highly detailed photographs and information on the history and development of the typewriter (and the people involved), and mainly covers the earliest typewriters (i.e. antique); be aware that if you are hoping for coverage of vintage typewriters (~1920s+), you will not find it in this book.

A beautiful book that brings to life the history of the typewriter
A gorgeous, well-written book on the history of the typewriter from two guys who have been on the collecting landscape for a long time. Avid typewriter aficionados and non-collectors alike will be drawn in by both the nostalgic historical photographs of a bygone era and the beautiful photos that highlight the bizarre designs of early machines. But the book is much more than that. It tells an intriguing story of the often bumpy road leading to the development of the writing machine. Books that chronicle history often are burdened with a litany of dates and numbers that make for tiresome reading. This book, though, avoids that tedious trap by bringing the narrative alive with interesting anecdotal stories about what transpired to bring one of the most important inventions of modern times to the forefront. Well done, gentlemen!

Typospherians and the Typewriter Factory
Come one, come all, and gather around this marvelous display of typewriter history. In the beautifully crafted pages which can be found within the covers of this tome, you will find the most interesting of stories, the most artful of advertisements, and the most thrilling and adrenaline-pumping photographs of people with their typewriters! Well, perhaps not adrenaline-pumping, but the photographs contained in this book are certainly quite amazing, and allow us a glimpse into the office of yesteryear. The many well-done images of typewriters from collections around the world allow us a beautiful view of machines that most of of have only ever heard about, if even that. My only complaint is that the book eventually ended; Alas, poor Yorik. I knew him well, Horatio.

Nice book of historic typewriters.
This was a nice book but its mainly OLD typewriters in here. Pre 50d and 60s. Was hoping to see some of everything.

Fabulous book.
An excellent book about a fascinating machine. The authors are experts on the history and technology of typewriters, and the current world of typewriter collecting, using, repair, and restoration. The book has an engaging and well written text, with beautiful illustrations. Whether or not you have a typewriter, this is a great book. If you wonder if you might want to get one, or start collecting, this is a great book to start with. If you remember using a typewriter in the past, this is a fun book as well. I have purchased one, plus one as a gift.

If you love typewriters this book is a "must have"
If you love typewriters this book is a "must have". If you don't love typewriters there is much eye candy in this book for even the casual looker. It's a beautiful book that takes full advantage of modern color photography and the technical enhancements and enlargements of antique photographs. Well written with gorgeous photos in a modern layout that I love. A typewriter collector will love every carefully designed page. A non-typewriter person will be fascinated by the incredible variety and complexity but even more the BEAUTY of these elegant antique machines.

A great history of yesteryear’s typewriters.
This is a great book. It’s a coffee table book in all the good ways, and none of the bad ones – great photos of machines the universe forgot, but also engaging and accessible stories, and a celebration of more than just the visuals. If you ever wondered how typewriters started, and how many blind avenues, ideas, and misfortunes they had to go through to arrive at what seems like the obvious typewriter form factor: read on.

Fun Book
This was a fun book to read. I especially like some of the office pictures that showed the typewriter being used. Fun coffer table book.

First class value in a first class & entertaining book!
This is a lovely book. Attractively bound in an embossed cover, with fascinating insight into most early manufacturers, it is a pleasure to sit down with and read each page to relive the development of the machine.Almost best of all, it comes at a reasonable price, given the quality of production...are you listening software book publishers? You who rehash content for each version & yet still charge high prices?
