Looking to reduce hypertension meds, I read that taurine is a natural substitute for hydrochlorathiazide (and possibly other diuretics). Indeed, I stopped taking it when I received the taurine and it WORKS- no increase in blood pressure. I take two a day (it's to be taken in divided doses)- one in the am and one in the afternoon (since I found if I took one at bedtime it interfered with sleep, plus I'd wake up to pee).
