Great Drive
These are great drives, i also really appreciated the way the seller packed the disks... it was VERY well bubble wrapped and i did a 3 cycle disk pre-clear and no errors or reallocated sectors! Great buy

Seagate Exos X18 18TB Enterprise HDD is not working
The HDD is not working from Day 1 that was bought from GULFDEALZ and unable to contact the seller for warranty or replacement. The number provided on the Invoice is not a working number and the Tax Invoice looks very blunt and not genuine.. Amazon is not helping to resolve or get the number to claim warranty. Waste of Money. Numerous reminders of no use.

Lots of storage at low price, a bit noisy
Got 3 of these for my Sinology 918p as an expansion. The best thing about this drives is low cost and good speed. I have now 16Gbx3, plenty of space for a small home NAS. My previous disks were 6TB configured in RAID5. Expansion worked pretty well exactly as described in Sinology guide, replacing disks one by one. Took a lot of time although this is probably because my previous drives were pretty slow. The main issue with these drives - they are REALLY loud. If you plan to use it in your living space, better look for something more quiet. However, in my case it is not really a problem since the NAS is installed in the storage. After working for few weeks, my stock NAS PSU (~8A 12V) failed, so I had to replace the stock PSU with 12V 10A PSU. Works perfectly since then. I noticed that NAS consumption with 3 drives is somewhere around 3A under full load. Each drive is taking ~500-700ma. Some reports here were pointing that these disks are running hot. I did find them a bit hotter (35-36C in Sinology) but not dramatically (2-3C difference max). Overall I'd say a good drive, all came defect free and working well so far (knocking wood).

Original with Real Warranty
The seller Kingdisk-Store is amazing, and the products are authentic. I check the warranty status on the Seagate website and it shows that their warranty are valid till May 2027, more than 5 years.

I bought two of these drive for my NAS. One worked perfectly, the other failed to start. I contacted the company and submitted a return and refund. Within the day, I'd received my returns notice and free consignment slip and have since received a refund. Great communication and faultless service - I recommend!

This drive runs HOT if you are writing a lot of data to it, I had to keep a fan on it while I was doing stress-testing... I suppose its to be expected from an enterprise drive designed to go in a data center with good airflow, but its a little concerning. These drives are rated to up to 60c though, so it should be okay. Also, I am noticing very high seek and read error rates in SMART data.. Cursory research shows this may be normal for Seagate drives? This is my first Seagate so I'm not sure, but there are 0 uncorrectable errors, so I think it should be fine. Since this is an enterprise drive, you may want to disable TLER/ERC if using in a desktop as this is a feature intended for RAID arrays not desktop use, the command on linux is 'smartctl -l scterc,0,0 /dev/sdX', replacing X with drive location, not sure what it is on windows but it should be similar except using windows syntax for drive location. This drive supports disabling TLER/ERC, which I was worried about, so if anyone has similar concerns, this drive supports the command. With TLER disabled there is really no reason not to use this drive, I'm not sure yet if the setting persists after reboot but that should be an easy fix if it doesn't, make sure to check though. Drive's speed is acceptable, pretty good actually. Oh, also, this drive is very quiet, I was very concerned reading all the reviews saying the drive was loud and I was basically expecting an explosion when it spun up, lol. But it is pretty much totally quiet, even writing I can barely hear it. Maybe if it was like 6 inches away from you it might be noticeable. I can't hear a thing in my case which is 3 feet from me. Spin-up is a bit noisy but after that it is fine. No more noisy than any other drive I've had. Note that the drive I got was manufactured in 2017 (darn resellers) maybe newer models are different, but I doubt it. Despite DOM 2017 the drive I got is running the latest firmware, which is nice. All in all, supposing nothing goes wrong in the future, these drives can't be beat for the price point and value they offer. Just make sure to give it some good airflow if you are writing a lot of data at once, and disable TLER for desktop use. EDIT: depending on workload this thing can indeed get quite noisy. I didn't notice it at all writing random data to disk for testing, but when automated backups run this thing churns out some serious noise. I assume this is the head(s) accessing random parts of disk as opposed to just contiguous writes. Still works good for a data drive that doesn't get much access, opening videos/music/etc is pretty much silent, but for heavy-access tasks you will want a ssd because this drive could 'drive' a person crazy.

Dead on arrival. The header is stuck and disk does not spin. Did not expect this from Seagate.

Another reliable Seagate drive with a 5 year warranty as certified on the Seagate warranty site. Been using Seagates since the mid 80's when I entered the computer industry proper. Working for the major manufacturers as a senior field service engineer and later providing in-house tech support. One of the most important things to know is that heat is undoubtedly the biggest killer of hardware and if you really want to destroy your kit, turn off the AC in the server room. If you want HDD's to last, treat them very gently and don't bounce them about on the work bench. Wear a tested and correctly connected and fitted wrist strap when you are working on computer kit. Keep your fingers away from PCB's as much as possible. Read the specs of the HDD that you have purchased and make sure that you understand them - especially max temperature rating. Use FORCED air cooling and don't try and convince yourself that you can run this drive at 50+ degrees C and expect it to be reliable - again read the specs. Now had the drive fitted in the tower since the 17th Jan 22 and in use everyday since. No errors reported thus far 21st July 22.
