Works perfectly on a Nexus 7 (2013)
I used this cable to playback movies stored on a Sandisk Cruzer USB flash drive. In combination with the Nexus Media Importer software from the Google Play Store, all I had to do was plug the OTG cable into my Nexus 7 and my movies were automatically displayed for playback. I used my Nexus 7 to watch movies during a 10 hour flight to Italy and this OTG cable made watching movies very fast and very simple. Video playback was smooth and reliable and I was able to carry many more movies with me on an external flash drive than would fit on the internal Nexus 7 flash storage. The SanDisk Cruzer fits so perfectly in the OTG cable it is easy to forget it is there. The OTG cable leads are short and very flexible which allowed me to just fold the cable ends behind the Nexus 7 so that they were out of the way. This cable provides a female micro USB cable for attaching your device to a charger or powering a larger USB device. The female connector will allow a Nexus 7 or other host device to be charged as long as the OTG function is not in use (i.e when a flash drive is not connected). I was unable to charge the Nexus 7 while watching movies. This is a limitation of the device firmware/hardware and not a problem with the cable. Fortunately the Nexus 7 has the battery life to operate during the entire flight. This OTG cable did everything I needed to do and appears to be holding up well during my long flights.

and working with better sound in an app designed for recording from USB ...
I just got this little guy, relatively recently, and have only tested a couple things a couple times, so I can't really attest to it's build quality/longevity. That being said, in my short testing, it seems to work as perfectly as it can, as far as I can tell. Cheapy sd card reader with 32gb micro sd card? System sees it, without any coercing. Astro does not, but I think that's a problem of permissions. Copying files to the device ended up being a little fiddly, but not too much.As for my other use, so far... ehh. I can get my Audio Technica AT2005USB recognized and working in Evernote, and working with better sound in an app designed for recording from USB microphones. (UsbAudioRecorder) As for the stock video app? ... well, if it's possible, I'm totally in the dark. I can run the aforementioned USB mic recording app at the same time, but, at that point, It's all starting to get a little bit silly. There's some color of static-ey noise (I know... really technical.) even in the special app, that isn't there/as prevalent, when recording on my computer, so I kinda doubt I'll be using this to record much audio, on the go. I haven't used any other USB OTG adapters, but I feel like it's unfair to judge this one for that noise problem, as it's something that I always expected from a cheap adapter. For the price, ($1.60 with free shipping, at the moment) it seems like a five star item to me, but if/when I encounter failure due to build quality, or unreasonable issues, I'll try and remember to update this, since that's where the value proposition is made or broken.

One of the Top Ten Things You Must Have for Your Phone! A OTG Port lets you Unleash Your USB Port!
Great Gadget! You get what you pay for however. I paid under $2,from "Eamall". The connector going to phone is rather loose, could be because i have used my phone so much. The power and accessory port are very snug. You must use your power supply cable with this, at least on a Vzw Galaxy S3. I made sure I used a high power charger. I prefer the Note3 charger I have, which is 2000ma or 2a. I have read allot about shorting out the usb port, unless you use the power cord. Average usb devices use 500ma power and having a 1.5a or 2a, allows the device or devices to be powered as well as the phone. I say better safe than sorry. This is faster than WiFi! I have successfully used a flash drives, a 2.5" external drive, keyboard, a usb serial ttl programmer and a mouse! I did not try the USB to Ethernet, but have read your luck will vary. This is a must have, and you will be happy you invested in a OTG Cable. A vast majority of phones and tablets support OTG. You may use a USB Hub, but will have to use power for phone and a power cord for the hub itself, which is allot of wires. I have several flash drives, my best being the HP and Sony. Those were 8GB and 4GB, I also have a 16GB SanDisk. When I tried using without power, I was unable to access the drives. Sometimes I got a status bar notification, mostly I did not without that extra power. I have 23yrs computer experience and was absolutely tickled with the mouse on a phone! Why I don't really know, guessing because its feels weird, but it worked excellent. I have had no issues with this doodad on 4.3(JellyBean), 4.4 (KitKat) both TouchWiz and ROMs. I can say the adapter had no effect on speed. The speed does fluctuate allot, suspect OS settings. I can say that I am rooted and use X-plore or ES File manager, both excellent with different interfaces. I also use 3C ToolBox for tweaking the phone, but there are many other Kernel Tweakers available. I am using a custom kernel too. I like DKP Kernel for the extra features. I have my phone scheduler set with: Internal SD -ZEN 1024KB read ahead and SD Card - SioPlus 1560KB and Flash Drive with SioPlus 2048KB. The newest version supports flash drives and or OTG. The benchmarks are insane for the speed of these schedulers. I was reading in the mid 250MB. Now actual performance is better with these tweaks, not mind blowing though. My SD Card is a Samsung Evo 64GB and the best investment ever made for the phone.

Nice for Fire TV Stick
Bought this to attach different accessories to my fire stick. I've attached Ethernet adapters, flash drives, and handheld keyboards that use a dongle to my fire sticks with no problems with this cable. You can only attach one item at a time, but have seen some of these that can take up to 3 accessories. You could probably also get a USB adapter with multiple USB slots as well to use with this one. I leave mine with the keyboard dongle on, as that's my primary use. These adapters can be hit or miss (I've bought many, from different sellers/websites), but this one has been going strong for about 2 years now. That's great value for sure.

It works...And has utility as well!!!
For those who are wondering, this product has the below uses...1. Connect to Mobile phone as OTG cable for accessing files from a pen drive2. Connect to Amazon Fire TV Stick (via OTG) to connect pen drive, and at the same time, connecting a charger to power the Fire stick. Why connect pen drive to Fire TV stick? it can help us expand the in-built storage of the Fire stick, and also we can store moves on the pen drive and play them via the Fire stick. Some even use it to store Android apps (apk files) on the pen drive and access them through the Fire stick and install them on the stick. This is for those apps that are not available directly in the app store of the Fire Stick. Nice usage scenario.3. You can also use this to connect a Game Pad (Game Controller) to your Android phone and use the Game Pad (Controller) to play games on Android phones. Again, nice utility.I tested all the above scenarios, and this device worked very nice.Hope this helps. If this review helped you make your purchase decision, just hit the HELPFUL button. Thank you!

Works like a charm
It`s hard to get too excited over a cable accessory, but with the single micro usb port that characterizes many smaller devices now, this piece of equipment significantly expands your hardware functionality. I use it as part of a setup to allow charging and connection of other usb accessories simultaneously on a dell venue 8 pro and it works like a charm! Very satisfied. Recommended for the venue 8 pro crowd looking for a solution to the charging conundrum.
