Q: Just wondering how strong they are. I want to use them for another purpose. If you pull on them hard can you get them open?

If you pull on anything with enough strength it will give. They only come with 2 small screws so if you're attempting to use this for something other then a stop gap for a door I'd suggest longer/larger screws.

Q: how much weight will they hold ?

No idea... I have one on a cabinet door. But, it is pretty beefy and you can adjust so that there is no slack when engages, so it should be able to hold a fair amount of weight.

Q: how much force can these hold?

If you get the tolerances right and depending on what type of material you are attaching the catch to I would guess 15 to 20 pounds of pull.

Q: Do you have to manually open these or can you adjust to pull on a normal handle? want it hidden inside.

This is manual latch. It will keep door secured. I used it on tall double door cabinet where I have lock on one door and this latch on other. So u unlock open one door and de-latch manually the other door
