It lights up the ceiling incredibly well!!!
When I purchased this puppy, it was because my daughter begged me. I thought it was cute, but didn't really think it would light up the ceiling. I thought it would give off a small glow. Turns out it lights up very well and you can clearly see the stars and dog outline. The colors also change, or you can set it to one color if you prefer. You can set it on a timer that automatically shuts it off after 20 minutes. This is great for the battery life. I highly recommend this toy. My 5 year old loves it and my 8 year old son asked for one for Christmas. You will not be disappointed. Worth every penny. This toy will be loved for many years. Even my husband loves it! It also does not get hot. I was worried about heat with the bed sheets. Nope! It stays cool the entire time.

Great for Kids who are Afraid of the Dark, Order AC Power Adapter to Save on Batteries
This is cute. It displays yellow, blue and green lights on the ceiling along with a cute image of the dogs face. It has four settings. One setting with solid green lights, one solid blue or one solid yellow. Last but not least the last setting transitions through all three colors. and is great for a child who is a afraid of the dark. Note the size of this is significantly smaller that the traditional pillow glow pets. It also consumes batteries quickly. I found an old AC/adapter that we weren't using anymore and it fit this little guy perfectly. So now we can plug him in instead of using batteries. You can order one of these adapters on Amazon by searching for Pillow Pets Dream Lites - Power Adapter. It cost around $10 which is cheaper than batteries in the long run.

Expensive, but can be worth it
This ended up being a great purchase for us. My 8 year old begged for this for Christmas, and I really hesitaed because I wasn't sure that he would really use it. He has though...every single night since he opened it! It might be noteworthy to add that my son has developed severe anxiety issues over this past school year. His dreamlight dog has been very soothing to him at night and helps him to fall asleep, so for that reason alone, it is worth every penny I paid for it. My 11 year old daughter also wanted one, but she hardly uses hers at all, however, she wasn't "dying" for it like my son was! This is not a cheap toy, so I would be sure your kid reeeeaaallly wants it! It's really cute, and you can change the colors of the lights on the ceiling from purple to red, etc... It has two switches...one to stay on and one to shut off on a timer. It's been about average on batteries, but we use the timer option, so it might be a battery hog if you don't.

Wish I could rate ZERO stars
We received one as a gift for Christmas, and lasted only 4 days before the lamp stopped working completely. Since we had no receipt and the sender didn't mail it in the original box, we were unable to return it. My 3 year old loved it so much, I purchased another from Amazon thinking that it must have been a fluke. Maybe my son dropped it or something and I didn't notice. Within a week, the 2nd Dream Lite also started malfunctioning. It was cycling through the colors at a very rapid pace and the only way to turn it off was by removing the batteries. After half a dozen times of that happening, I gave up and will be returning to Amazon. Terrible product.

Good enough but..
First off, the lights are really good at night. Kids love it. The problem is the battery part. You take off the battery door and even if you screw it very tightly, it still comes off. It is very flimsy, and if it is for kids, I will worry because the screw is too small you cannot even see it. It is a choking hazard.

Great product
Got this for my son for christmas. He loved it. in a dark room it illuminates it with stars very clearly with blue and green colours. The brown colour was not so bright. You should note that it is quite a bit smaller than a regular Pillow Pet. My son also has the Hippo Pillow Pet and the difference is noticeable. It is a great night lite and is cuddly and soft so it works for my son.

The perfect gift at the perfect time
MY daughter had told my 10 yr old granddaughter that it was time to sleep without a light on. I bought this little pup for her as a gift and it was the perfect solution. She loves it! My daughter says she goes to bed with her little pup lit up and then falls to sleep with no problems. Doggie turns off after about 20 minutes. If she wakes up for any reason there is no worry because her little pup is with her. She has had this puppy for about 4 weeks and has not had to change the batteries yet. So all in all it was a great purchase. Price was not bad either for what I have seen in local stores. I was very pleased.

Inexpensive version of a good idea
Cute puppy and cute idea, but the images/stars are not clear when shown at the ceiling. We put the puppy on the changing table in a dark room and you can barely see the stars on our ceiling. They look blurry and distorted, and the pattern is spread out so they shine up the wall like a colored flashlight. We were hoping for something that would get our baby's attention, but it isn't clear and visually stimulating enough for him to care.
