Our birds liked the worms so much more than their own food that we had to cut back on worms. They're dried out completely, different shades of brown. The occasional funky bug gets in the mix but who cares. Birds love them! Really crunchy. The plastic bag is peck proof, however we keep it in another container jusy to be safe. It comes in a transparent plastic bag so you can see exactly what you're getting.I paid the price of this 10 lb bag on Amazon because it was only a few dollars more than the 5lb bag at Coastal Farm and Ranch. I saved a lot of money! I assume the flavor is great based on the flock crazy birds when I bring out the bag.

What can I say about dried mealworms? They looked clean and intact, otherwise not terribly appetizing to me. The birds, however, extend a rave review. I have two neighbor's guinea hens that now come to my window 4 times a day and bang on the glass until I open the window and offer them a paper cup of these mealworms, which they now eat from the cup in my hand, not willing to wait for me to pour them out on the windowsill. The wormfest has attracted the attention of a quartet of Muscovy ducks who also now arrive with the guineas. They are now mealworm addicts as well. All I really say about these worms is if you like large hungry birds, do buy these. It is a good quantity and a good quality at a good price.

We buy these for the Eastern Bluebirds that next in our yard. They love these mealworms and feed their newborns. We enjoy watching all the activity that the mealworms help generate at our house. Good purchase!!

Good quality product and the birds love them.

I’m not sure if the 1-star folks just got different, but what I received is a nice big bag of quality, dried mealworms at a great deal. I’ve tried other brands, and all mealworms have always had a peculiar smell, which I find pretty normal. I would definitely buy these again.

Fresh, tasty, and cheap. Everything bug protein promised to be but failed to deliver on is here. Tastes like unsalted peanuts. I took a star away as there was a fair amount of non mealworm debris (sand, pumpkin seeds, and the occasional mealworm in its non larval stage) I'd strongly recommend straining and washing it before using it in food (also to get out any potential toxic heavy metals). Importantly though its not cut with any flies or other lesser insects. Edible raw but definitely worth cooking to really bring out the crunch. Great in stews and chili.

I have huge flocks of bluebirds and they are very territorial around the feeder. I have seen them dive bomb much larger birds to keep them away while their mates and off spring feed

Mealworms of good quality and quantity. This makes for happy ducks and duck parents.
