I was advised to use walking poles by my physio and these were my eventual choice from a wide selection on Amazon. They are telescopic which I wasn't sure would give me the reliable support that I needed but the clips are adjustable so you can tighten them to get a perfectly firm hold and so far I've not had any problems with slippage. They are also beautifully light to carry and seem to be ergonomically well designed as my arms and wrists feel no effects from our walks. Finally they are a lovely shade of muted green which I find particularly attractive and appropriate to our countryside walks.

On my very first Fall hike with these poles Saturday I lost a precious rubber tip, plain sucked off by mud, as they are not affixed to the poles by any means other than a simple slip-on. Try as I might, I could not find them in the muddy passage we went through - poof! Just gone, sucked back into the Earth forever. Argh!

I recently purchased these Foxelli trekking poles and they are wonderful. The quick locks are very easy to adjust and they have held fast with no slippage or collapse of the poles, the cork handles are comfortable, there is no vibration, and the little rubber feet slide onto the ends of the poles easily with no loosening or turning when using the poles. These trekking poles have made my daily walk a lot more fun and I have had people stop me while I'm walking to ask about them. I would recommend them to anyone who enjoys walking as these will help your posture, will employ more upper body movement, and help with your balance. If/when they wear out I will definitely purchase another pair. If you're thinking about trying trekking poles I think that you should give these a try.
