Will this work for a 3 y/o and a 5 y/o? What is the size of each round for the print?

If you are doing just a hand print it will work for a 3 or 5 year old. Keep in mind this is hard clay not lightweight one.I would get lightweight one that way you can strach it more and make it thinner. They are more durable and you can hang them on a tree.These will break if you drop them but are more beautiful for display on shelfs.

If I don’t open the package, what is the shelf life of the clay?

About 12-18 months. Freezing it will actually prevent the loss of moisture allowing it to last even longer without affecting the clay.

Are you supposed to let it dry on the aluminium foil or parchment paper?

I just left mine on the foil and placed it on a paper plate for extra suppprt and let it dry. I set it on top of fridge so it wouldn't get disturbed.
