AltraMen's Torin 5 Sneaker

I'm running only in Altra and for road running Torin and Escalante are my preferred choice. To note that the Torin 5 is a bit narrower in the heel area than other generations. As there's Torin 7 by now, the 5 is cheaper so it's a consideration factor.

These running shoes were recommended by my daughter and I have to say I was not disappointed. The only thing I would say is get them a half to a full size bigger. I have had to use stretchers and although that’s great because they have worked, a larger size would have been ideal. I am so impressed I have ordered another pair but in a slightly bigger size. Returned trainers, due to fault. Requested a refund, they requested proof of postage and now no response. Very disappointing

I have loved my pair of Torin 4s, so couldn’t wait to receive these Torin 5s. I normally wear a uk size 5 street shoe and bought size 6 in the Torin 5. Unfortunately they are too small and I’m waiting for an exchange for size 6.5. Love the colour of the shoes, hope my larger size arrives soon!

I’m going to buy five pairs of these in case they ever stop making them. I was previously using Hoka Clifton edges, and after a few months was struggling with PFS and lower back pain- issues I’ve had on and off with running for years. Swapped to these, and now I’m running 6 days a week with zero problem. The wide toe box and zero drop suit my feet down to the ground, and the cushioning has made the joint pains melt away. 10/5, I absolutely love them and recommend them to anyone really. No harm to the Clifton Edge, I’m sure for a super athlete they do something extra, but for me these are amazing.

I knew it would be a bit tight as I read the reviews. However it was tight from areas I didn’t expect it to be tight. So just bare that in mind if you are buying it and I would say defo go 2 sizes bigger. As it’s foot shaped the shape may seem odd to people as it’s not a traditional shoe. However I don’t mind that but some people may find it very odd. If you really care about your feet, don’t worry to much about the shape as someone called it clown shoe. As long as it helps your feet that’s what you should be concerned with. I have also tried the bigger size and again it’s the same it’s tight but not just from the front. So this was not really suited to me and had to return it. But I got it via the Amazon buy before you try which is good.

I had a model of Altra’s that was discontinued so I settled on these. I love them, much more than the first model I had! They help achieve a mid to forefoot footfall but provide enough cushion unlike a lot of minimalist shoes (not that this is a minimalist shoe). I run a lot and often so I have three pairs of different shoes for different terrain. I would not recommend these on slippery or steep terrain as they do not have excellent grip. I do use them on roads and on trails, just not very steep or slippery ones.

I'm not sure anyone involved in the design of the shoe actually attempted to wear them. The tongue is too long and very sharp/hard. It was already cutting into my ankle before I even ran in them.

Beginner runner here.First time experiencing the awesome toebox, i dont think i can go back to regular shoes going forward.Its really light and has good support. No problems with the tongue.I'm usually a size 9.5 so went with that, it was perfect. First use i thought i would need some time to get used to it, so i decided to just walk, but then mid-walk decided to run a bit. All good all the way.Highly recommended.

Fits great, zero drop, yet some cushion. Wide toe box without heel moving around. Totally worth it.
