The Mustang Survival HIT inflatable PFD is the top in it’s field with the highest quality. It also inflates in three ways; submerged under 4” of water, by pulling the ripcord or by blowing into the manual tube. The harness assembly is strong and comfortable. The amount of flotation provided is highest in the category. The instruction manual clearly worded. Delivery was incredibly overnight. Packaging was fine. This is the vest you would want to bet your life on so high cost seems irrelevant.

Comfortable for all day long wearing while sailing. Makes it easy to wear. Before purchasing, I called Mustang Survival and their customer service was fantastic. I wanted to understand the difference in PFDs and the rep was very knowledgeable and helpful. She explained the HIT system in depth, how it inflates only after being submerged (not from heavy rain or the occasional wave overboard). There's a small window telling the expiration date, which is great so I don't have to remember when i bought it and then do the math. We bought two and they are fully adjustable, so mine fits me at 5'4" just as well as my husband's fits him at 6'3". I looked at every video and review I could find for just about any PFD on the market before making a decision and am very pleased to have chosen this one!

Been using it offshore for the last couple of years, super durable and very high quality, definitely buying again and again. And I recommend it to most of my coworkers who got after me as well.

This is a great vest for boating! It is lightweight but it has impressive features. You can move around in it and it gives me a little better sense of security! It came highly recommended by my friend who shows watercraft and the mobility of the craft and features for Homeland Security!

I've never fallen in the water or deliberately tested this. But it seems a good product overall. Since I rarely get to go sailing (I don't live close enough to the water!), I don't really get my money's worth from this. But that's not a fault of Mustang. It is disappointing that they claim you need to replace the cartridge after about 12 months -- they're pretty darned expensive, why wouldn't they last a lot longer? It's really designed for people who sail a lot more than I get to, and who do so in rougher situations. But I bought it with the hope to not have to buy a better one later.I have sailed in a soaking rain with stiff wind and was pleased it never deployed accidentally. So that critical aspect of the design seems very good.Comfort-wise I was surprised how heavy it feels, mostly around the neck and shoulders. It's not prohibitively uncomfortable, but you aren't going to forget it's on either. It's open enough that mostly it doesn't get in the way of arm movements and such, it's just heavy and a bit bulky.

I wear this sailing PFD when under way. It's so comfortable I forget I'm even wearing it. The quality of construction and materials are first rate. The HIT inflator wont go off accidentally it only goes off when submerged in water. This is more expensive than other models but I really don't want to take any chances when it comes to safety. My life is worth a few extra bucks. And the harness is really heavy duty if I need to clip on to the boat.

Tether grip are great as I secured myself in the cockit of the boat.
