Rocky start, strong finish
This lighthearted debut takes awhile to find its footing, but it started to shine once it did. I couldnât resist that adorable cover, and itâs actually a great reflection of the vibe - this easygoing romance features a (mostly) confident, curvy heroine and a muscular hero who acts like an alpha but secretly has a marshmallow center. These two strangers canât seem to stop bickering, but the sparks that fly between them are impossible to miss. The tone is light and a little bit funny, with some more emotional moments and a touch of steam. The back half flew by for me, and I wouldnât hesitate to check out Leaâs next book - this ended up being pretty solid. The story follows Crystal, a personal trainer and fitness influencer who has learned to love her body. While many judge her size and choice of career, Crystal knows that sheâs her happiest, healthiest self as she is. When she meets an infuriating stranger at the gym, itâs dislike at first sight⌠kind of. Scott seems to push all of Crystalâs buttons - and sheâs got plenty of assumptions about his personality - but the two canât seem to stay away from each other. So when they discover that theyâre connected by more than the gym, it complicates the entire situation. But Scott just might be on the rebound, and Crystal will never again be anyoneâs second choice.I loved that this wasn't another romance where the curvy heroine has to learn how to love herself or change something before she can - Crystal already knows that she's awesome, she's just got insecurities that creep up like everyone else. The book is set in a gym, so it could've gone in a troubling direction, but I really liked the tone. I also loved Scott; we only get Crystal's perspective, and I would've given anything to hear his thoughts, because I can only imagine that they'd up the swoon factor by a thousand. He's a cinnamon roll wrapped in an alpha's body, with a little bit of cockiness to go along with the whole package. While Crystal drove me crazy sometimes with her never-ending assumptions, Scott turned out to be SUCH a great guy. They've got good chemistry, and I loved the direction the book took once they decide to explore that. It does get weighed down by unnecessary miscommunication here and there, but I sincerely liked this overall.Audio note: Not a fan of the audio - at all! It's the narrator that I didn't like, her voice just sounds childish and not very pleasant. I remember that same narrator being the reason why I couldn't get into the Donut Fall in Love audiobook, and it was the same situation here as well. I ended up turning off the audio at around the 25% mark and chose to have robot Siri read the ebook to me instead, which... yeah, not a good sign for the audiobook, lol. I also started to enjoy the book significantly more once I turned the audio off, so I can't recommend that format. The story does lend itself well to an audio experience though, with an upbeat vibe, minimal steam, and a runtime of under 10 hours. It would make a great workday listen, if you can tolerate the narrator.

One of my favorite reads so far this year!
Get ready, because Iâm going to be gushing and sharing about this book until it publishes in May. Not only did I laugh out loud, fall in love with the characters, and devour this in a ridiculously quick time but I also connected with this story in SO many ways!Crystal Chen is a curvy personal trainer with a thriving social media presence. The gym is her safe place, her sanctuary, until one day a Chris Evans look alike steals her squat rack and sends her blood pressure through the roof. There is a shock of a lifetime when her sworn gym nemesis, Scott Richie, shows up at her grandmotherâs engagement party. Brought together by family, love of the gym, and cheesy pick up lines, Crystal starts to release that maybe Scott isnât so bad after all. Could he even be her swolemate?â¤ď¸ Gym nemesis to swolemates (enemies to lovers)â¤ď¸ Open door spice đś đśâ¤ď¸ Loveable and nosy Grandmaâ¤ď¸ Curvy confident fitness instructorâ¤ď¸ Laugh out loud humorI donât know if I can put into words how much I adored every minute of this book. Amy Lea has written a delight of a debut novel. I myself am a curvy women new in the fitness industry and I saw myself in Crystal in almost every page. The author uses this book to speak so much truth about the fitness industry and beauty standards which spoke to me on such a deep, deep level. I adored the budding romance between Crystal and Scott! I laughed out loud more times then I can count. Amy's writing style makes you laugh and gives you all the feels all at the same time. And donât even get my started on my love for Grandma Flow. Meddling Grandmas get me every time. Put this on your TBR. Add it to your Goodreads. Pre-order it. Because I am telling you, I know this is going to be one you donât want to miss!

preachy
I read exes and ohs before this one and loved it-so I went into this one expecting more of the same. But I had to skip paragraphs of Crystalâs inner monologue that just dragged on and on and on.Also itâs weird they broke into the house and that she staged a fake fire call.

Cute book about self love
The book was cute and I enjoyed reading it, but did not love it. There wasnât really enough juiciness there for me. The characters are very sweet and I can appreciate the journey they went through.

Love the message
At first this read as a rom com, but it became so much more to me quickly.Being half Mexican and half white, I could under Crystalâs issues that sprung from being half white and half Asian (not the same, but similar expectations that you arenât white enough or arenât the other half enough). This wasnât the main take away though.Dealing with fat shaming haters is a big thing in this story too. Being a thick, curvy, plus size, large woman is definitely a struggle when it comes to being judged by others. Especially if you practice a healthy, fit lifestyle but are still overweight. I have PCOS and birth control makes loosing weight very difficult. But Iâm very active and love to play sports, lift weights and run. Some of the issues Crystal dealt with when it came to her size definitely resonated. I was once told âYou pull attractive partners for a big girlâ and Iâll honestly never not be angry or upset when I think about all that implied with that one comment. This brings me to the most important message of the book. Self Respect and understanding yourself⌠Self acceptance. Thatâs the goal. Period. 1000%Crystal struggling with the negative comments and her insecurities was making me anxious and upset for her. I wanted to also take to instagram and fight off the haters. But seeing Crystal understand herself, own up to her mistakes with Scotty and changing her platform to fit her was sooooo much more satisfying. The only thing I want is a book about Tara haha and her bookstagram⌠and maybe Trevor đĽšđBut I digress.Set On You by Amy Lea is a phenomenal read and I encourage people to check it out for the laughs, the tropes, and the positive messages it gives!

Amazing and extremely funny
I have no words to describe how much I loved it! As a fat woman, I saw a lot of myself in Crystal and her struggles. Every time one of her instagram posts showed up in the book, I cried because it was so relatable! Also, her and Scotty were the cutest and funniest couple of all time đâ¤ď¸ I definitely recommend reading this book

Love the representation
originally brought Amy Lea's book Ex's & O's before I realised it was the second book. I brought the first book, which is this one 'Set on You', and I am so glad I did. This book made me laugh and cry all at the same time. It's a fun, inclusive book, and I am so glad I read it.Not only is our main character, Crystal a Chinesse character, but she is also a curvy character who just made this book so much better.I loved the dynamic of the relationships between the characters and just loved the story. My only slight annoyance was the fact we were always at the gym, which seems slightly controversial on my half because it literally is her job to be at the gym all day.Saying that I enjoyed the spicy scenes in this book đ

Love the representation!!
This is to cute!! I really loved the vibe of this one, such a sweet read. Crystal is an influencer that promotes body positivity and self love no matter your ethnicity, weight, age whatever. And btw her sister is a bookstagrammer, love that!I think that this book could have a positive impact on so many people. Crystal really goes thru the ringer but comes out on the other side stronger. No spoilers but just know that the message is just amazing. No matter if youâve struggled with this yourself or not I think everyone can take something from this one. Obviously thereâs still an overall romance theme, so if thatâs not your thing maybe just go with something else.So to summarize. I love Crystal and what she does. Scott seems like a really good guy. And there are so many good side characters! If youâre a romance reader youâll hopefully love this to
