Sifu Peterson writes from a unique position, he has trained in more than one Wing Chun family, he was a direct student of (and translator for) renowned Sifu Wong Shun Leung and his professional life as a Chinese language teacher endowed him with the ability to communicate directly with Sifu Wong and the simple straightforward means of communicating the information to English readers with maximum clarity. Obviously this book is specific to the WSL lineage but I would recommend this for practitioners of all Wing Chun families or really anyone who is serious about studying fighting arts. No matter what your lineage or style, you can gain valuable insights and ideas that you can adapt and incorporate for yourself. His first book, "Look Beyond The Pointing Finger: The Combat Philosophy Of Wong Shun Leung" is also mandatory reading.Now go train !

Excellent book! The essays cover a wide variety of topics and are very informative and interesting.

Very well structured, very articulate and a fantastic insight into many avenues of our system. It's the type of book that you read and then reflect on what the author has written, digest and then try out for yourself. A personal favorite of mine.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has been training and studying wing chun for any length of time, regardless of lineage. The wealth of information and explanations of WSLs vision of how to apply the concepts and theories of wing chun i have found of benefit to my own journey.

A fantastic book by David Peterson who was a long time student of Sifu Wong Shun Leung. This book would be of interest to any Ving Tsun enthusiast.
