Zyxel 5-Port 2.5G Multi-Gigabit Unmanaged Switch for Home Entertainment or SOHO Network [MG-105]

Like many people looking to upgrade a 1Gb network, the cost of 2.5Gb switches seems a bit steep, to put it mildly. However this one just about got to a price point at £85 that I could justify so I took the plunge. It's not the most handsome piece of hardware, it's a solidly-made but pretty stark non-descript design, but it is the kind of hardware I like - plug it in, switch it on, and it just works. Been using it a month so far (and not really stressing it other than fairly short bursts of full speed), but it's been as fast as advertised, 280-odd MB/s daisy chaining two of them together on a LAN with 3 PC's, rock-solid stable, and well... they just work. Not had to intervene at all so far. They do get a little bit warm on the underside even when not doing much - on the one hand it means it uses more power than 1Gb switches just idling, on the other it means the high quality metal casing is working well as a heat sink. PSU's seem pretty much silent which is always good, I hate buzzing power supplies. If you feel the need for upgrading a home network, these are very much worth a look.

Solid little 2.5G Ethernet switch. The main benefits are it is fanless and unmanaged, so it is ideal for a small home office setup. The case does get very warm, but do not worry! Because the case is fanless, in order to get rid of all the heat the 2.5G switch generates, the manufacturer is using the case as one big heatsink to get rid of the heat, so the chips inside do not overheat. I used a thermal camera to measure the case temp, and it was at 50 degree, so maybe the IC inside the case will be hotter at 60 degree. Well within the limit of IC's. So, yeah, there is nothing to worry about. The switch performs very well according to specs, I can get 250GB/s between my Mac Studio and NAS. For Mac users, there is a bug in the macOS driver that will cause the connection to drop frequently, and here is the fix (as of macOS Monterey 12.4): *** You Must DISABLE the "Energy-Efficient-Ethernet" option in System Pref -> Networks -> Ethernet -> Advanced -> Hardware -> Duplex

I bought this to connect a 2.5G-enabled NAS into my network. I've had it a few weeks now and it has performed perfectly in a mixed 2.5G/1G network. It was a bit hot when I had it just sitting on my desk, but once I mounted it horizontally on my wall it is pretty cool due to the metal heatsink chassis and the vent holes. No issues whatsover on Windows 11 with the river being automatically installed.

Works well and has a strong, metal, build. It does get hot quickly as others have commented. One thing to notice is that it only has vents on the sides so really should be installed vertically on its side with space below and above so that air can flow through it.

I tried a lot of the cheap, unknown brand switches. All rubbish and interfered with Ethernet backhaul on wired access points. I sent them all back and tried the Zyxel. Worked first time, no issues whatsoever. Ordered another 3 to complete my home network upgrade!

I have a few of these Zyxel switches dotted around now. They work very weel and I have had no problems with them. They do get a little warm but that is the price you pay for a finless switch. So far very reliable.

Bought to connect a QNAP NAS to a PC or two. Works well and as expected. Does get a bit hot for sure, but not alarmingly so and I'm sure it's designed to work at the sort of case temperature it reaches. Fit and forget, like these things ought to be.

Alors déjà pourquoi avoir choisi Zyxel. C'est une marque connu et ils possèdent un site web ou l'on peut retrouver leurs produits. Les certifications et fiches techniques dont les standards sont consultables sur leur site. La non présence du standard 2.5G me faisait un peu peur sur la page amazon, du coup je suis parti sur leur site faire la pêche aux informations. Effectivement le standard et bien présent. Après 1 mois d'utilisation, aucun soucis pour l'instant à l'horizon. Côté chaleur, oui il en dégage. C'est un fonctionnement normal et correct pour un fanless.

La mia esperienza di utilizzo ha mostrato che la velocità della rete domestica o dell'ufficio è aumentata a 2,5 Gbps senza costi aggiuntivi di cablaggio. A causa della sua capacità di commutazione di 25 Gbps e della velocità superiore a 2,5 volte rispetto alla rete Gigabit, lo switch è una scelta ideale per home entertainment, video 4K, LAN party o utenti SOHO PRO. Tuttavia, non ci sono opzioni di configurazione o controllo avanzato disponibili. E' un ottimo dispositivo per l'ambiente di home entertainment e SOHO, che offre una velocità superiore e la capacità di commutazione necessaria per la rete moderna. Tuttavia, i utenti che cercano opzioni di configurazione o controllo avanzato dovrebbero considerare altri prodotti più complessi.

まだ家庭内ネットワークの基幹は1Gですが、主に使用している2台のPCが2.5Gに対応しているため(自作PCでマザーボードはASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark HeroとROG STRIX B550I GAMING)、互いのファイルのやりとりを高速化したくて購入してみました。2.5Gの現在の売れ筋はPLANEX FX2G-05EMのようですが、あえて未体験のZYXELを選んでみました。 LANケーブルはCAT6のまま、既存のスイッチングハブと置き換えてみましたが、普通に2.5Gにて繋がりました。本体はそこそこ暖かくなりますが、熱いと感じるほどでは無いと思います（個人の感覚ですが）。 耐久性や安定性はまだ設置したばかりなので、なんとも言えませんが、今のところは特に問題なく動作しているようです。 PLANEXと比べて敢えてこれを選ぶ必要があるかどうかはなんとも言えませんが、最近割引クーポンなども付いていることがあるので、お安くなっているならありかもしれません！？
