I was so excited when I received these for my homemade gift project!I pulled out several to sand and prep them for paint.They appeared to be intact and relatively consistent in size.After sanding I was not able to proceed with the next steps right away, and set them aside for a couple of days.Most of the wood slices appear fine, but I started noticing a number of those I had prepared had begun to crack...I would be too embarrassed to gift the cracked slices to anyone, so I'm not sure what to do with those.Hoping I have enough INTACT wood slices for all the gifts I wanted to make, considering I won't be able to order more in time...Wish the quality was more consistent - not sure if sanding had a bad effect, but sanding wood isn't exactly an uncommon practice, so...I guess I would just recommend you order considerably more than you need, in order to ensure you've got what you need to accommodate the ones which may likely become unusable. :(

Quality wood slices and a good value. They are easy to draw/paint on and seal to use as coasters.

The surface is very rough I am disappointed

the tend to split, not all split, but a lot of them did. I use these for Pyrography projects and I would finish a piece and then they would split.
