Great reel! I didn't want to review to soon. It has now been 1 year of solid fishing/trolling with a downrigger and this reel is excellent. the counter work flawlessly, very smooth, castable without bird nesting the wire. New favorite at the price point!
Loved, bought another, and now just ordered a low profile one. This is a tank that is SMOOTH, the abu Garcia C4 used to be my favorite in the price range for salmon until now. This is a complete winch in comparison and is smooth on the retrieve and the drag. The power is unmatched compared to the C4’s

Great reels spend a little more on a reel and be happy
Have used these CW203 when trolling for walleye using inline planner boards with bandit crank baits and with bottom bouncers and worm harness. The reels work great when paired with a planner board or down-rigger rods. Have. Bought a total of 6 of these and 2 of the larger CW 45s for lead core long lining. These smaller profile simply feels better on the rod and when reeling. Reels are spooled with 17-20 lb test monofilament. Reeling and drag system works great. Easily brought in 2-6 lb walleyes while trolling in the Detroit River or Lake Erie. The new models are already out, but do not hesitate to buy these older CW models.
