Sennheiser MKH-416 Short Shotgun Interference Tube Mic With Zoom H6 Recorder

I just wanted to confirm that this deal is real. The Sennheiser came in factory-sealed, tamper-proof packaging. The Zoom also came in original packaging. I would highly recommend this deal to anyone. The MKH 416 has incredible sensitivity. The Zoom H6 does have inherent self-noise that becomes noticeable the more the pre-amp gain is increased. Combined with the MKH 416 however, it appears possible to get near professional recordings when the MKH 416 is in close proximity to its sound source. With the MKH 416, there is little to no need to go past a gain setting of 5 on the pre-amp. Other less-sensitive, cheaper microphones may require a setting of 7+, a combination that would make recording with the H6 less feasible. This is an excellent combination for budget film, voice-over, or field recording. In regards to price to performance ratio, this is probably one of the best deals around. To record more subtle sounds (e.g., wildlife from several meters away), you may need a higher quality pre-amp combined with the MKH 416 (e.g., a Sound Devices Mix-Pre), or an additional high quality pre-amp that adds clean gain.A bit of advice: I recommend switching the recording format to WAV 24 bit. The recording format for the H6 is 16 bit by default. Recording in 24 bit is standard these days. By switching the format to 24 bit you should, in theory, get more dynamic range and headroom out of the recorder while lowering the noise floor.

Yes, it's the real deal! I'm pretty sure every review here will state that this bundle seemed too good to be true. I was hesitant, just like everyone else, but I noticed it was being distributed by Adorama, which is a name I trust. They have the same bundle on their website and on their eBay store. With regards to the price, something to keep in mind is that the 416 does go on sale a couple of times per year for around $799 and the H6 can be had for $300. But, that's only if you buy them when they happen to be on sale and you're still ahead by $50!As far as I can tell, these are new units. No scuffs or signs of use at all. However, their packaging wasn't fully sealed (and I don't think ever is), so it makes it a bit harder to tell. I'm trusting that these were brand new. I registered both units with their respective manufacturers and haven't seen anything back from either to indicate there's a problem.I thought it was pretty funny they put giant stickers on the packaging to make sure it was sold as a kit and not separated. The tightness of that wrapping did cause some damage to the boxes. That was superficial, however, and didn't impact the items inside.The preamps on the H6 are a bit noisy, which is a known factor with field recorders in this price range. If I keep the gain under a 5 with the 416, it's not bad. Going over 5 does raise the noise floor noticeably. I may look into adding something like a Fethead Phantom to give the mike a boost and reducing the gain on the H6 quite a bit.I have not really tested the modular microphone attachments as I just needed the H6 unit for recording from the 416.The 416 sounds amazing, as expected. There are tons of reviews out there in the interwebs that will fill you in on it.

I had just purchased the 416 by itself, then saw this and sent it right back. It is absolutely legitimate, and one heck of a deal. You're saving around $300 with this bundle, and the Zoom H6 is nothing to laugh at. Great user interface, quiet pre-amps, and 96KHz/24-bit recording. It's always a good thing to have, and for $50 extra... c'mon. The MKH-416 is outstanding and gives you a particular sound that is hard to replicate without getting into some serious EQ matching post-production. With this I can record, edit, and send VO work in a matter minutes.

Fantastic price for the Sennheiser MKH-416 & the Zoom H6. The mic alone retails for $1000, so the bundled package was a great value. Items arrived quickly and as described. The mic is incredible - everything I expected it to be and more! I do not have an audio interface for my Mac yet, so I decided the Zoom would offer me portability when needed for VO gigs. Definitely professional grade equipment.

The Sennheiser MKH416 is the real deal and sounds fantastic. I also received the Zoom H6! Both items were shipped together within a couple hours of my ordering. I received the package two days later.I highly recommend you take advantage of this bundle. Why pay the full price for a Sennheiser MKH416 and not receive a Zoom H6 with the deal? That's just crazy if you don't.

I still can't believe the price! I got the MKH-416 & the Zoom H6 for the price of the mic alone???? I was skeptical.... I called Sennheiser to make sure the mic was not a knock off.... It wasn't ! I registered it on their site and is under full warranty. You will not find a better deal on this anywhere on the internet. I looked forever!!
