KitchenAid KN211WW 11-Wire Whip for select Bowl-Lift Mixers

Oh. My. Gosh. I did not know how badly I needed this in my life. I make a lot of marshmallows so I was curious how the 11-wire whisk would affect the amount of time it takes to whip the marshmallows because they have a very stiff and sticky consistency. It seriously is a game changer. Not only did it whip up the marshmallows less than half the time, it whipped them into a much, much better texture. I expected some improvement, but I did not expect that *much* of an improvement. I’ve already got meringue cookies in my immediate baking plans and I’m looking for other things I can do with the 11-wire whisk.

Quality, Durable, great sized replacement or I should say addition to my mixer. Replacing the originally shipped ones that blacken, chip, and cannot be dishwashed to Stainless Steel. I opted for OEM vs after market for my mixer's health, balance, and longevity. I think although pricey, this 11 wire whip is worth every dime. You will never go back to the 6 wire for most things. It does it in half the time and the loft is unbelievable.

Everything in the world has trade-offs; more about that in a minute. I bought this item after I saw on a Cook's Illustrated TV show on PBS mentioned that the Kitchen Aid mixers have 6-wire whisk attachments, and 11-wire whisk attachments. The 6-wire whisk was included with my Kitchen Aid mixer, and it did a good job, but I could never figure out why anything I tried to whip took longer than my recipes - especially the Cook's Illustrated recipes - said it should take. When I saw on the TV show that there was this 11-wire whisk and they said it speeded up whipping tasks of all kinds, the penny dropped. This new whisk did exactly what was described - dramatically speeded up the time to whip things. For my first use, I made an Italian meringue for a lemon meringue pie. This whisk made short work of whipping the egg whites with hot sugar syrup, yielding meringue that piled up into a white glossy mountain on top of the pie filling. That trade-off thing I mentioned up front? Although the meringue whipped up fast (and I do mean FAST,) most of the meringue was inside the whisk attachment when I took it off the machine. So, I did have to spend part of the time I saved with a jar scraper getting my mounds of meringue out of the whisk and into the bowl. Even so, this item is a net winner and performs exactly as advertised.

Edited* I put it in the dishwasher all the time and it hasn't gotten discolored once. I absolutely love this whip! After accidentally dropping a spatula into the mixer while it was moving and bending my original aluminum whip, I was looking for a new one. However, I didn't want to pay such a high price for one. The whip that came with the mixer was only 6 wires, aluminum and discolored when I put it into the dishwasher. I love that this new one is stainless steel and has 11 wires. Everything whips up lighter, fluffier and quicker! It cleans up quickly but I haven't put it in the dishwasher despite it being dishwasher safe. I wish this whip would have originally come with my mixer! I highly recommend this whip

This whip is made well and says it will fit a 5 or 6 quart mixer, but I haven't been able to use it with my 5 quart mixer. I hope to get a 6 quart mixer in the near future, so I kept it.

Make sure you have the correct Kitchenaid model for this whisk. This is NOT for the 5 quart model. Now this whisk is made of stainless steel which ALL Kitchenaid mixer attachments should be made of, but of course that's not true. The quality of this SS whisk is excellent, when I compare this to the included whisk of the 6 quart model, I just want to throw the aluminum away. The aluminum attachments drive me nut. I have to wash them by hand ASAP and not soak them, and then hand wipe them after the wash, otherwise oxidation comes to play and the yucky black stuff will cover the aluminum attachments. Now this whisk with so many wires and so tight in between, I can't dry the inside by hand easily, but then this is SS, so I don't care drying it by hand. I just let it air dry. I love this whisk. I just wish there are SS dough hook and beater available for my mixer. One word of caution, the whisk looked very strong and I am very temped to use it as a beater. I have to keep telling myself don't do that, cause breaking the wire in a heavy mix will be very sad. So, don't use it for anything heavy.

Best whip for meringue and whipped cream!

This Kitchenaid brand 11- wire whip is an immense improvement over the already excellent original equipment 6-wire whip. It works incredibly fast to raise large amounts of egg whites or heavy cream into stiff peaks. Incorporating ingredients thoroughly is also quick and requires less scraping down of bowl. It is all stainless steel, and can be cleaned in the dishwasher. Because this whip has nearly double the amount of wires as the original, you’ll need to adjust the motor speed downwards, and cut mixing time in about half. It works very, very, fast, so don’t look away from the bowl while whipping. Highly recommended if you whip up large batches of fluffy delights, to make things go quickly!

Item is dishwasher safe and fits perfectly. After some research, I found out that this will in fact fit the kitchenaid mixer model KSM60. Works great.

I'm only ranking 4 stars on this as the cost is a bit extraordinary for bent wires pressed into a hub. I can't imagine this costing more than 5 bucks at KitchenAids cost. Aside from cost , I do like this whisk better that the stock one supplied with the original purchase.
