Give your child a gift card for the amount the toy is actually retail priced at. And wait till January when they are back in stock. THEN WAIT! And watch your little one light up as they get their most prized toy AND "pay" for it themselves. Had to do this a few times and well.... Priceless. Though... At that point... Dont be surprised their mind changed and they get something totally else!

I actually bought one of these and have a real review....
I was a very lucky parent who was able to find one of these at normal price during the craziness of the Holiday Season. It was all my still believing 8-year-old wanted from Santa. I was frantic to find one to keep the magic alive. I absolutely refuse to be one of those parents who would spend $250 on a $50 toy, though, and was not playing the price gouging game. (That, and I'm sorry - I have four kids, no way could I afford it.)I would up finding one because I posted on FaceBook that I was looking for one and one of my friends knew someone who knew someone who had bought over 30 of them and was re-selling them at regular price to help out local families. (Pretty awesome, eh? I threw her an extra $10 to thank her for her compassion and generosity.) Any how. Magic kept alive. I stayed in my budget. The excitement was insurmountable. He is a stickler for rules and followed the directions completely. Enjoyed himself with the hatching very much. Lots of giggles and excitement. He wound up getting the one that is dark blue and light blue with green eyes, beak, and wings. Mission accomplished. It was the most played with toy by all the kids for the first week or so. It is still occasionally played with here and there now that school is still up and swinging. It hatched in about 40 minutes. Was an adult by the end of the day. I messed around with it a bit and it's entertaining and very interactive. It give you what you put in to it. There is a very specific list of instructions my 8-year-old followed himself. I would say a first grader who is a good reader can handle this alone. Any children younger will need a large amount of assistance.I gave it a 4/5 because now that it's completed all it's cycles, the interest has begun to dive. I highly doubt it will keep his interest past the end of February. It met expectations, however, and is good quality.
