NV Johnson Estate Lake Erie Red Ipocras 750 mL

This was bought for my boss as a Christmas gift. He loves it! He was unaware he could purchase on line as he had been buying a bottle when he was in the winerys area. A happy boss makes a happy employee!

Excellent dessert wine or spiced wine.

I was given a bottle of this wine as a gift and it was definitely one worth savoring. This wine is based off the historic idea of blending wine with spices, which were tremendously expensive back in the day. Accordingly, only the rich could afford this spiced wine and even then only for special occasions.Ipocras Red is a nice smooth sweet red wine with the added spices giving it a rich taste. It's not sweet like a dessert wine, but its definitely not a dry wine. Like most red wines, this one should be served only ever so slightly chilled...but it must be said that if you do serve this at room temp or warmer that it doesn't taste as good.I'd buy this again and serve it for a nice dinner party or around the holidays. Or I'd give it as a gift, like it was first given to me. It's a very good wine for the price and definitely more interesting because of the added flavors than a regular bottle of reasonably priced red wine.May not be for everyone's taste, but I liked the spices.
