Perfect for beginners
Bought the pens for homeschooling project and we’ve all enjoyed using them for the past few days. The watercolour pen was damaged but the seller was super prompt with replying and have told me they’ve sent out a replacement.

Blendable watercolour pens
Lovely set of watercolour colouring pens (rather than “paint” as they are more like felt tips). 12 pens in a fair range of colours plus a refillable blending brush that is simply filled with tap water and used to blend the watercolour inks for effect. Fantastic effects and easy to use, just under £12 (at the time of review) is a expensive for this set as I have previously ordered similar pens with more colours and costed less. Otherwise an acceptable product and a good addition to the artbox.

Great pens
As you can see by the image on this review, i am a complete novice at this colouring thing, although you only get 12 different colours, you can actually do a lot with them as they are water based markers and they come with a special marker that you can add water to and dilute the ink around and blend it. The only "negative" thing i can say about these is that they only come with 12, which for a beginner like me is actually enough, you don't have a massive range of colours or anything, but because it's water based you can easily double up to make the dark tones and use water to dilute the ink and make lighter tones, so you actually have more flexibility here than with alcohol based markers. With that said, these are water based, so using it on normal printer paper is not the best idea as they will bleed on the paper and will tear it up to bits too, it's best used on water based paper for best results. So if you are investing in a decent set of pens like these, spend the extra too and get the proper paper for them as you will see the full capability of these markers. Although i don't know how to use them properly yet, other than the video guides i've seen online, i can already tell the quality of these, i had previously bought 72 colours for double the price of these and i had to return those as the quality just wasn't there, but these Arteza markers are really good, yes they are a lot more expensive, but also worth it as the quality is amazing. I will recommend these to beginners, if you are new to to colouring then these are for you.

A great replacement for brushes when painting watercolour...
This set of 12 watercolour pens are by Arteza and come in very attractive cardboard packaging. The set also includes a water pen which you can fill water and use for blending and creating lighter shades. The colour pens themselves are highly pigmented which gives a truly vibrant colour, and they are also water based. They have self-cleaning nylon bristles so even after blending with other colours, the colour returns back to the original colour of the pen. The bristles are soft and are easily manipulated so you can create any thickness of line just be varying the pressure since the pens react like a paint brush. The ink doesn’t seem to soak into the paper easily so bleeding isn’t a problem, and you can keep the ink where you want it to be. I’ve only just started getting into the water colour pens and I find them so easy to use. They are a more efficient, and quicker way, to get setup for watercolour artwork with no cleaning up afterwards. You just put the lid back on the pen and you’re done. I get the feeling that Arteza know what they are doing in the watercolour scene and these pens are just superb!

They are ok
These pens are okay, the colours are good but I wouldn’t say they are easily blendable

Not Quite as Blendable as Hoped
I have the bright tones set and they are aptly named. The colours are exceedingly bright and unnaturally garish. Blending to create different colours is not easy and even well-watered down, the colours are still very bright. Perfect for colourful posters or tropical scenes in a pop art style, but not for normal watercolour painting. They are useful to use more as I would use a streak of ink in a painting and the water pen is useful to make the colour wash down to paler shades. A fun addition to my paint selection and the no-mess makes them perfect for using on the go. They are completely different to using watercolour paints but I am enjoying getting used to the technique and results improve with practice. I haven't tried them on ordinary paper, but they work fine on cheap art paper. There is no need to use expensive special watercolour paper unless a lot of watering down is going to be employed. I think they are a bit over-priced though.
