A Work of Genius
Alexander Lowen was a seminal figure in somatic therapy. Working with Wilhelm Reich he early understood the importance of the body in psychological healing. The body became living record of personal struggles, traumas, and other ingresses on the wholeness of the human experience. Other books he wrote outline the conceptual underpinnings of his theory."The Way to Vibrant Health" despite its unexciting title and unpolished artwork remains a work of genius for all those who seek path to healing. Lowen believed that stored energy in the body was the residue of traumatic experiences. The easily-performed exercises outlined here offer a release from the effects of this residue. By placing the body in slightly stressful positions, breathing fully, and holding the positions for a few minutes, Lowen believed, the body would begin to express itself through "vibration". These vibrations permit expression and healing.I began to do these exercises a month ago. My body's response was more intense than vibration; I would have to call ii spasming. . At least in my case there has been no resuscitation of ancient memories. Rather it's more akin to feeling pure energy expressing itself and discharging. If this approach calls to you, please give it a try. This slim book can be the way to your joy.

Helpful book
Well written, clearly organized to find exercises for specific reasons. It has good directions, easy to follow, details explanations and good photos. I like the way I feel after I've done an exercise.

If One Tries These Exercises, Lowen's Ideas are More Understandable
One thing about Alexander Lowen's ideas of feeling better, is that they can seem unusual. That is because the average person today is so disconnected to real feeling that we cannot recognize the sense (pun intended) in which he talks about feeling, desire, grounding etc. The only way to come to know it is to work the body. Not work the body to make it greater for the ego but to become comfortable in our own skin. This book is a generous gift of such exercises worked out by decades of trial and err. Just do some. Your feeling will increase. They may appear to be easily mastered and not likely to hold interest for long, but actually, like Pilates, the longer one does these the greater the experience and the deeper the awareness. What you do with that greater, more real feeling is the subject of his other books.

Amazing. two weeks of bioenergetics and three years of ...
Incredible information in this book. The irony of how the most potent forms of healing are the ones most labelled as quackery. Ive been getting adjustments at the chiropractors for years, paid for spinal decompression, tried countless other forms of rehabilitation and prehab exercises. BIOENERGETICS is by FAR the most potent exercise I have done. I tore my levator scapulae nearly three years ago making it very difficult to progress at the gym. Initially my pressing movement strength cut in half. After two years I slowly worked back to where I was before the injury. TWO WEEKS INTO BIOENERGETICS and i have CRUSHED plateaus and i am even able to do dumbbell shoulder press again without my shoulder clicking. Amazing. two weeks of bioenergetics and three years of shoulder and back problems have disappeared. No more low back aching either. PRICELESS INVESTMENT DONT THINK TWICE JUST BUY
