Eklind Tool 51912 3/16" Cushion Grip Hex T-Handle T-Key Allen Wrench

I needed this long 3/16” hex key wrench to make easier truss rod adjustments on Fender guitars. Fender sells a similar t-handle hex key wrench for a lot more money. I have shorter Eklind hex key sets and know they are tough, good quality tools that handle torque well. I didn’t realize this wrench does not have the ball end, but it still works for my application. Eklind does sell a 9-inch long, 3/16” ball end hex key wrench, so I’ll have to decide if I want to exchange this one. The ball end feature allows the hex key shaft to swivel, typically up to 30-degrees which provides for more versatility. This Eklind hex key wrench is made from high-carbon tool steel. It measured exactly 3/16” on my digital calipers. It has a tough plastic coated t-handle that allows for comfortable tightening and loosening of hex screws and bolts. Eklind makes good quality tools in the USA and are a good value.

I make specialized tool kits for specific tasks occasionally. I buy individual tools when I need them for a kit, this was one. It works fine and when you can find a quality brand name tool at a reasonable price that you can keep for a specific task, you can save a lot of time by not having to find appropriate tools each time. I have plenty of general purpose tool sets because I like spares but my specialized kits make specific tasks a pleasure. I highly recommend organizing your life that way for frequent tasks or tasks where access to your tool sets is inconvenient.

Saved big bucks with this tool vs the name-branded truss rod tools ... very sturdy, not a cheap tool that twists when torqued, and the length is good for getting around headstock string trees. RECOMMENDED Perfect 3/16" fit.

A good, strong piece that is precise in its measure. It gives me so much flexibility to reach places previously inaccessible with standar hex keys.
