Highly functional and high quality
This was a necessary purchase for me as my wife and I intend to upload more content discussing cameras and accessories. This product was easy to install, the components are well packaged and of high quality. The only issue that some may have is that you need to be aware that this kit does not come with a stand. That would be a separate purchase. Whatever stand you decide to purchase to use this product with, make sure it's sturdy enough to support the weight of your cera gear and this teleprompter. Other than that, that product is A+.

Well made!
I ordered this teleprompter and received it quickly. Glass was broken but I immediately reached out to GVM and they quickly sent a replacement.I have other GVM products and they have always been quick to resolve any issues. This is a well made piece. I loved everything about it except it was just too big for my space. It's also best used with a full size teleprompter monitor to take full advantage of its size.I have a ipad 12 and still had plenty of margin. If I were in a larger space and shooting talking head vids regularly, I'd have this teleprompter no doubt. Ideally it would be best served by having a professional/sturdy tripod dedicated to it so you could clip the camera in and get rolling. If you have the space then this thing a solid choice.

EXCELLENT - but has two major flaws (solvable)
Ok so this thing is absolutely excellent, and i really want to give it 5 stars, but there are two major problems that you have to resolve for it to work perfectly. The good news is you can solve both pretty easily, but you want to be aware of them: 1. it does not come with any kind of mounting hardware or tripod heads, most specifically the longer plate style (which is really what you want with a larger beast like this). And you need TWO of them. The real issue here is that they should have mentioned this in the listing. the two i purchased are these in case you need some: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Y4QSL8M?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details 2. The second problem is the size of device this can accommodate. Here you have this MASSIVE 18" reflector glass but the size of the device you can lay down maxes out at about 13". it's really irritating because it's an OBVIOUS flaw and is EASILY fixed because the only reason it's limited this small is that the adjustable extender arms that hold your device in place only extend out that far. they could easily make these extend MUCH farther and solve this problem instantly. i've attached a screen shot with red arrows to show you the extenders i'm talking about. so in my case what i did was to simply unscrew them all together and remove them, super easy. BUT.. this creates a new problem: now your device can fall off and break pretty easily. the solution for this new problem is a case by case basis that depends on your device and you’ll have to figure out how to handle that. in my case attaching velcro strips solved the problem quite easily (really strong velcro of course). TIP: I wanted my teleprompter to be more than just a teleprompter, I wanted it also to show me the guests so I could see their face and look into their eyes while also keeping my eyes directly into the camera. So what I did was I bought this monitor right here and it fits PERFECTLY on this thing!: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C6F1TP9R?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 I removed the magnetic cover that comes with it and the back side has this groove that seems like it was literally made for this teleprompter! Now.. if you decide you like this idea you need to keep in mind this is a MONITOR, not a smart device. You would then need to send an HDMI signal from your smart device to this monitor. Which I like even better because now the smart device is literally right next to me on my desk, making it SO easy to manage. But I took this even one step further. I purchased an HDMI switch that has 4 ports… so what I do is I’ve attached several devices to the switch (an iPad, a Skype computer, and one other) which is right near me as well, so I can just manually switch from device to device easily. And then I read an HDMI cable from the switcher to the screen. So now I can switch between tele prompting and talking to people on Skype and be looking right into my camera the whole time. It’s fantastic!

Amazing!!
This thing is a beast. It works perfectly with my iPad. Fits my small R5 and my large C70 just great. Fairly simple assembly as well. It’s improved my workflow a ton

A high quality pro like 18" teleprompter at an affordable price
Like a lot of other GVM products the GVM 18" Teleprompter for use with tablets manages to tick two contrasting boxes. It's both affordable and also very close to professional products costing much more. In the case of the GVM Teleprompter, GVM really has produced a stellar product for VLOGgers and small video studio production work. I had recently used a smaller 12" teleprompter from another manufacturer. There are several 12" format teleprompters under various brand names on the market at the moment. All of the other brand 12" units are very much aimed at VLOG and YouTube type use, as the reflection screen size limits the usable reading range to no more than six feet, if that. The small 12" models are also hampered by the "window" out from the camera position and the hood used for the reflective screen having a relatively small field of view that can vignette with very wide lenses. That's just not a problem with the GVM 18" Teleprompter's huge window and professional sized reading surface. Although the GVM 18" Teleprompter is rated at up to fifteen feet reading range it is held back by being packaged to work primarily with tablets. Although there are tablets up to about 12" they will still produce a relatively small target reading area relative to the 18" teleprompter's real capacity. GVM seems invested in the idea that you will use only their prompter app on a 10" iPad or Android tablet. Of course there are many other prompter apps out there, and a lot of other display options that could be laid flat for use with the system. So limiting the cradle size for what you can use the teleprompter with to no more a large tablet is unfortunate. Interestingly, GVM produces an upgraded version of this teleprompter that comes packaged with a dedicated eighteen (18) inch tablet display pre loaded with the GVM prompter app. At that point the rig really comes into its own for use at longer distances that approach professional TV studio production. However, GVM does not, as far as I can tell, offer an accessory bracket or cradle that would allow a user to use their own larger computer monitor or video source to display text. The GVM 18" Teleprompter itself is very well built, very solid, large and professional looking. Reflectivity is excellent and the camera mount is very versatile and could easily handle a smaller pro video camera as well as DSLRs etc. Despite some people complaining that it does not come with a case I would think this teleprompter is more likely to live installed at a studio and not be carted around to remote locations. But no doubt there are some users out there that want to do nothing but move it around from location to location. Finally, I own several GVM products, and I very much like GVM products. But I have to say that GVM manuals, its web site and its promo materials and ad copy have, bar none, the absolutely worst English text that I have ever seen. Even Google translate would do better. Anyone who has been using Asian made electronics the past forty years has of course come to accept that the language use in manuals especially and promos etc may sometimes be a bit clumsy and weird. But the text in GVM materials is borderline gibberish. It often barely makes sense, and sometimes requires a complete re-read to re-translate what was intended into something understandable. Any company like GVM, that wants to be taken seriously by professionals, should spend a few dollars and hire a native English speaker in America, not an employee in China that has had a few English lessons, to copy edit, re-write and proof the company's text material. This criticism applies to many other products and companies of course, but GVM text materials have been painful to read. All that said, the products are great, which is what counts, of course, in the end. All in all I am very impressed by the GVM 18" Teleprompter. Truly a pro like product at an affordable price.

Quality teleprompter but with shortcomings
The GVM TQ-L Teleprompter looks and feels like a well designed device, but it has some shortcomings. First of all the size of the glass is big; it's in a trapezoidal shaped frame that is about 18.5x16 inches. This would normally be a positive but, finding a case to fit it is almost impossible. Another reviewer suggested a carrying bag for barbecue box. I don't think I'm bringing a BBQ carrying bag on set. The exterior of the box that it comes in measures 25.75x20.5x8 inches. If you add a monitor then you'll need a deeper and wider case. I'd suggest a case that measures 31x21x13 inches (exterior). I'm using an old Thermodyne case for an JVC camera. I would have preferred a Pelican 1730 case, but that is not in the budget. The 15mm rods and rail system looked like a positive, but then I wanted to add a 15" monitor. The distance between the rails in not standard. They measure 110mm, not 100mm like studio rail blocks or 60mm like smaller rigs. I wish they would state that in their specs or used more standard distances. Funny thing is the distance between the monitor rods and the camera rods are 60mm. I'm having to jerry-rig the rod system so that I can attach a monitor. It is well built with mostly metal parts, with only the knobs being plastic. You'll need a couple of Allen wrenches to set it up. The plate for the camera is big (about 6x3 inches).
