Perfect Cast Iron Set
Excellent set! I purchased these after taking leisure classes at the Baton Rouge Culinary Institute, where we were learning Cajun cooking. I noticed these were the types of pans used to prepare some amazing dishes, so I knew I needed a set for myself. The quality is outstanding. The three sizes with matching lids are perfect for searing, slow cooking, and building deep flavor. The silicone handle covers are very practical and make handling the skillets much safer and more comfortable. Most cast iron sets don’t include lids, so I truly appreciate that this one does. The lids fit snugly and seal completely without ventilation gaps, which makes it possible to prepare even more recipes. I’m very happy with my purchase, definitely a great addition to my kitchen!

Ours are really great.
Hello! Not so rough, at last the 10" one, which is the one used so far; can wipe with a paper tower without any problem. Maybe the manufacturer paid attention on coarseness complaints. Just a little water before putting on the stove, and it was wonderfully hydrophobic. First thing cooked out of the box, an omelet, with some oil and butter; just a little stick around part of the border. Second thing, fried eggs; almost no sticking. The first time we ever cooked with cast iron long ago, was frying eggs. They stick so hard, that it looked like part of the iron. After viewing so many videos and reading so many tips, what was wrong? We figured out fairly quickly: the heat. The pan was so hot, that the eggs began to cook before landing on the pan; yes, exaggerating, but it was too much heat for eggs. After long cleaning that mess, next eggs barely started to cook when dropped on, they started to get white very slowly, no sizzling at all. Sizzling = stick when dealing with eggs over cast iron. Haven't made anything else yet (like a steak) but felt the necessity to write the review right away, because seasoning it with a little oil after cleaning was not a problem with a paper tower; it got eventually destroyed, but not to the extent that cannot be used in about three pieces to be able to finish the seasoning; then have to get rid of all those paper tower flakes, which was fairly easy hitting with a kitchen tower. Maybe we were lucky, but these units are great (just tried the smaller one from a set of two) and we are very pleased with the quality and the price. Remember, keep heat extremely low for some cooking, and you will be able to move the eggs around the pan, turn them over for a while, and get then perfectly and flavored cooked. Highly recommended, but you must learn how to use and care for them. Update: yes, you are right, 'paper towel', just one, 'not a tower of paper' which would mean 'a lot of paper towel'. I know you got it and ignored it, but it looked very funny to me when realizing it, lol.

Heavy duty and gives a great sear on meat.
This cast iron skillet with lid is awesome for a chuck roast (and anything else). I was able to get a wonderful sear on the meat but also, as it continued to cook with the beef broth, the sear was better and better over time. It's one of the best cooking pans I've had, and that includes AllClad.

Love it!!
I've been wanting a cast iron skillet for awhile. I grew up using one almost every day. So, I finally decided to buy one, and I'm not disappointed. This is a really nice skillet, it cleans well, and my food taste better! I definitely would reccomend purchasing.

A good frying pan
Hello, the frying pan has indeed met my expectations. It heats up well, it's able to retain the temperature for quite a while after turning off the heat, and it is robust and heavy. I do advise you to clean it well and, above all, dry it very thoroughly to prevent rust. If you can put it over the heat for a while, that's fine, and once it cools down, apply a light coat of oil

Love these pans
Get these. This is a nice investment. These cast iron pans are nice and heavy. They are awesome with holding heat at a consistent rate. The silicone handles are very nice and easy to slide on and off. The lids themselves are heavy and the silicone on the handles are great. I haven't put them in the oven with the silicone handles on them as of yet. The pans are already pre-seasoned. I used one out of the box and imo I would wipe out the pan with hot water, dry it well, then season the pans again before using for the first time. I did more seasoning with the other 2 pans and that made it so much better when I cooked in them. The 12 inch pan with food in it, you will definitely need 2 hands to move around the stove or oven because of the weight. They will rust (my son washed the pan by mistake and left it to dry! AH!) I cleaned it and seasoned it again. It's fine now. The only thing that I wish is that the back of the pan was completely smooth as I am using an electric stove. I would for sure buy another set.

My new favorite pan!
Everything I’ve cooked in this pan has come out perfect. The pan itself is nice & heavy. If I care for it properly, I should never need another. This is awesome after only having flimsy non-stick frying pans most of my life. I love it! For my needs it’s the perfect size, not too big but big enough to cook for 2 very comfortably. The lid opens up even more options. The silicone handle sleeves are a great feature too. They make it real easy to *not* burn myself.

First thing fast delivery, well packaged and it is HEAVY. I mean heavy at 3.75kg. Hope you have strong wrists. It comes with a silicon handle which I tested on gas stove and oven gas mark 4 (as recommended). It say cool to the hands. In the box you will find instruction manual and a card for quick use. I HIGHLY recommend reading them thoroughly to avoid disappointment. video and instruction are repeated on Cuisinel website. Furthermore, there are tons of videos on Youtube on how to season and clean your skillet. Even instructions on cooking. Armed with these instructions I first cleaned the skillet wit soap and water, put it on the stove medium high heat (always use medium high heat on this skillets even for cooking), let it dry thoroughly. Used 2 tbs of vegetable oil and spread it across the pan. When it started to smoke, I removed it from the heat, let it cool down a bit and with a cloth I spread the oil all over as recommended. Turned it over and put in the oven for 1 hour. I did this twice. Next day I did eggs with onion and mushrooms, pork steak and they did not stick. I recommend doing the seasoning as many time as you can. It will get better and better. Well pleased, and highly recommend it. Did I say it is HEAVY?!!!! Just follow the instructions and you will be fine. Minimum effort for a healthy non stick pan.
