!!!DO NOT BUY, IT WILL BREAK IN 6 MONTHS OR LESS!!! Giving 1 star because 0 is not an option
I do not usually give reviews, but at $400 I had to give this review to warn others to save your money and stay as far away as possible from the NEWAIR icemaker. Bought the ice maker in July 2022, worked great and I was excited about this icemaker...for about the first 5 months. Then it started making loud crunching noises and leaving some black residue inside the water compartment and would not make ice anymore. Contacted Newair and they sent me a replacement at no charge. I was again a happy camper. Fast-forward about 6 months, then the replacement machine starts having the same issues. I again contacted Newair. Again they required I cut the cord and take pictures of machine and they would send me replacement. But this time, I had to pay shipping (I think was about $50). As agreed, they sent the new machine (with me paying shipping). The machine worked fine until... NOW 4 months later, the 2nd replacement machine is BROKE. This time, it is pouring water from inside where I cannot get to it to see what is going on there. All the water I added to make ice ended up on my counter! This is in addition to the same old issues of started making loud noises and leaving black streaks of some kind of residue in the machine. (NOTE: I run the clean cycle with white vinegar/water mix on weekly basis, only use filtered water, and handle with "kid gloves", and use only as directed). I Contacted NEWAIR and customer service rep told me I do not have extended warranty and nothing they can do for me...But offered me a 40% off discount code to be used toward purchase of anything else on their website. I said "Really, do you think I want anything else made by NEWAIR?" I just want my $400 back for this piece of crap I purchased from them. ========== SUMMARY ========== The icemaker is great and makes great ice when it works. Now with 3 icemakers all having the same problem (except the 3rd one is also leaking), it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that this ice maker is clearly a defective design and is just crap. So unless you like throwing away money, DO NOT BUY THIS NEWAIR ICEMAKER!!!!! It is not a matter of IF it will break, but WHEN.

Love this ICE!
My wife and I have 5 kids, mainly because I love hospital ice. We're too old to have more now and I'm tired of going to Sonic to buy ice. This ice maker was a fantastic purchase and produces ice really quick. Our friends look on in jealousy because of the ice we have on-demand at our house. We have a neighbor that likes to come over with one of those really expensive souvenir big cups you get at college and pro sports events to fill it with ice for her Dr. Pepper. I'm convinced we have the best ice on the block if not the entire neighborhood. I should consider selling bags of this ice on the street corner. I wonder if I need a permit for that? Checks county laws....NOPE! Ok you've heard the good. Now for the bad. It started making some loud noises after about 6 months. I thought it was maybe the little ice elves that live inside the machine getting cranky because we make them work so hard producing ice non stop. They probably regret leaving Santa and the North Pole. Anyway, I reached out to Charles at Newair via their on-line chat function to see if we needed to get replacement ice elves for our ice maker. They said nope, but they will replace it under warranty. Oh yeah! I bet we get the fresh, upgraded ice elves that don't get cranky this time. I'm thinking of cutting my neighbor off after we get the new unit. I know she'll probably go through some hard core withdrawals. Not my problem, she can go to Sonic. Or make an investment in herself and feed her habit with one of these shiny new ice machines in her own home. I'm done being an enabler! If you've read this far. In all seriousness, go out and buy one of these. You will NOT regret your decision.

Junk. Don't waste your money.
First off, the ice is great. It produces it fast and the machine design is nice. The machine will not last you a long time! I purchased my first unit in 5/2023. Worked great for a few months, then started making a loud screeching noise. I received a replacement unit, which I had to pay around $50 for it to ship (The first machine also cost over $400 at the time). Received first replacement unit (It was completely covered in dents from shipping). Contacted customer support for another replacement. (Replacement #2 was also completely dented in) Contacted customer support again (Replacement #3 had extra protection to protect it in shipping, which is something you would think the company would do for every order) This machine worked great, until I noticed that the back of the unit had corrosion and was leaking water. Then it started producing black chunks into the ice, even after cleaning the machine multiple times. Contacted customer support again. Any replacement that you receive doesn't come with an additional warranty for that unit. It is only based on the first machine you purchased. So I cannot receive another replacement and will have to throw this in the trash after only using a little over a year and spending over $400. After the warranty is up, the company will offer you 40% off a new unit, however, why would anyone want to pay that for a unit with horrible reviews and a small life of use.

I just found someone else’s review where their machine did exactly what mine just did!!! The ice piles up and popped the top. My machine is 14months old so just past the warranty and this happened. Then we found what we thought to be the culprit… a small metal arm had snapped off.. I think it is what sends the ice down the chute!! Either way… contacted the company and they said basically to bad you didn’t get the extended warranty. You can have 40% off the next machine but must order from their site which is American… (I’m in Canada) so with exchange and duties I am paying the same amount as new on Amazon which was $550 I told them this is clearly not helpful and they basically said the same thing… too bad!! Sooooo I’ll do as everyone else has and just not purchase their products anymore and be sure to warn others!!

La compré. Para mi local y por apertura se retrasó cuando la prendí duro 2 horas y no hace más que para un vaso. Sale más caro gastar en luz que comprar el hielo o una nevera y guárdalo

Makes nice small size ice cubes. But sadly produces ice super slow. . I don’t recommend this if anyone is looking for the 44 lbs a day result.
