Great item to buy
This item is so awesome, because the original light switch was installed in my house and I am very strange location which is located at the rear door, so I installed the remote at the entrance of the kitchen from the house and it works great thank you very much

There should be a warning that these switching wont handle the watts that a ordinary everday switch will handle -hooked it up to a few outdoor lights and it overheated and started to melt.

Works but is picky on the LED bulbs you can use it with
I purchased a 2-pack Gecko switch from XMT Labs and it works as advertised (at least after a couple e-mails from their tech support). I first installed this at my daughter's house while we were visiting for the holidays. After I installed it, the switch turned on but when turned off would severely dim the lights and would do nothing else (would not even turn back on or off). I emailed their tech support and received a reply the next day to try a certain brand of light bulbs. Since it was Christmas and I was pressed for time, I simply swapped back the original switch and brought them back with me to try at my own house and see if they were indeed defective since the other unit I tried did the same exact thing.Back home, I installed it in my media room and the already installed LED bulbs would turn on and off but would flicker when dimmed (they work fine with an old fashioned switch and dimmer). I finally decided to try a GE brand LED bulb (one brand tech support recommended) and it works fine and as advertised. The remote switch does a fine job of turning on/off and dimming the lights. I did not bother to try the cell phone app. Here is my feedback on the Gecko switch1. The outer face of the switch is 1/8" - 1/4" larger than the back portion of the switch (which is mounted flush to your wall), so unless you cut a larger opening on your wall, the switch will protrude about 1/4" out. It basically looks exactly the same as the remote switch when you stick that to a wall. I would have preferred the base switch to mount completely flush (or eliminate the 1/8" lip of the outer plate).2. As mentioned, be prepared to maybe have to change to dimmable (GE, Phillips, or Osram) LED bulbs .3. Other than that, I would have given it 5-stars since I was not expecting to run into those issues.
