Is there a backup incase of power failure to remember the program temp setting?. Will I have to re program the unit when power is restored?

I have had many power failures but I never had to re-program this unit. I am not sure how it does but does remember settings. Please note the Power failures we have seen here only lasted a few hours maximum. I have to reset all radio-clocks that is how I notice power failures...

Can the control be used on a frost free freezer as a refrigerator or should the freezer be manual defrost?

I was concerned with that so I wired the controller to only control the cooling circuit. The light, defrost timer and defrost heater are always powered. Have had no troubles with this setup in a standup freezer converted to beer server for years.

Can I use this to control an A/C unit?

Amazon ASIN B000E7NYY8 is a better unit for controlling an A/C. You can adjust the temperature swing.

how do you install the controller?

Hi there, what I did is enter the item name and model number on Youtube and searched for "how to install" There' s plenty of links. Here's the one I used - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AZlvEBEjAA It's fairly easy but make sure to follow the instructions to the T or the controller could get fried. Hope this helped!
