NETGEAR 5-Port Gigabit Smart Managed Plus Switch (GS305E)

I’ve been extremely happy with these NETGEAR GS305E switches. I currently use three of them, with one located in each room where I need multiple wired connections. They all feed back to a GS308E that serves as my core switch, which is connected to my Firewalla Gold.My main reason for choosing the GS305E was VLAN support. I wanted true network separation rather than simply adding more unmanaged switches throughout the house. I have different VLANs configured on the Firewalla, and setting up the GS305Es to carry the appropriate tagged VLAN traffic and assign individual ports to the correct networks was surprisingly easy.The web management interface is straightforward and gives you the controls that actually matter without turning configuration into an unnecessarily complicated project. Setting up 802.1Q VLANs, configuring tagged and untagged ports, and assigning the appropriate PVIDs was easy to understand. Once configured, I could have a single Ethernet run going into a room and then use the GS305E to put individual wired devices onto the appropriate VLAN. That made expanding my segmented network throughout the house much cleaner and easier than running additional dedicated Ethernet lines for every network.They’re also small, fanless, silent, and easy to tuck away in individual rooms. Despite being inexpensive switches, they provide the management features I needed to extend my VLAN architecture properly.For anyone running something like Firewalla and wanting to maintain VLAN separation across multiple rooms, these switches are a great solution. My three GS305Es combined with the GS308E core switch have given me a simple, reliable, and very flexible wired network without requiring expensive enterprise hardware.I would absolutely buy them again.

This ethernet switch has been absolutely great and solved significant network link issues between my Rogers router and PC. The NETGEAR GS305E 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch works perfectly for my PS5, Apple TV, TV Ethernet, and extension modem. It distributes speed very well across all devices. Setup was truly plug-and-play, and the included charger is long enough for flexible placement. There’s also an app to control advanced features, though I haven’t needed it yet. Overall, a simple, affordable, and efficient solution for home or small office use.
