Helpful Guide
This book was purchased with the intent to discover if I wanted to pursue the field perfessionally. Now that I have read it I have a better understanding of what Art Therapy is and how much it helps people. As an artist myself I felt like these materials and exercises helped me to understand myself more and gain insite as to what art does for those who don't see themselves as creatives. A little history, a little textbook, an overview of the practice and exercises everyone can do to deepen their understanding of the self. I would recomend this book as an easy read and reference. I would say this is a reference book more than an actual guide. If you were looking for more I would suggest more materials to this for more view of the field. But, it is a great start.

This is a masterful introduction to the art therapies.......
As an experienced clinician/psychologist who has just started classes for a certificate inart therapy, I found this little book to be a terrific compilation of introductory informationon art therapy. The book lives up to its' SOURCEBOOK title. The over-view of the subject isartfully written, easy to read and the resources are great for the beginner in this expandingfield of the art therapies. I think that all clinical, mental health service providers wouldbenefit from reading this book as they strive to offer treatment alternatives for their clients. If mental health practitioners did more exploring of alternative non-verbal ways into the mindof their clients, while sharing discoveries with their clients, we might all think more of takingour clients off of drugs and offering them art, music, theater, dance as ways to work throughtheir difficulties. I URGE ALL CLINICAL MENTAL HEALTH WORKERS TO CONSIDER WHAT THIS BOOK HASTO OFFER.Art and music and dance all awaken the sleeping/suffering brain and we must take responsibility forintroducing them to ourselves and our clients as ways we already have in us to create more peaceful, lessstressful and more enlightened ways of bringing wellness to our daily lives.

Personal Art Therapy
I have not gotten all the way through this page by page yet. But what I have skimmed and read actualy full sections from the beginning, I am liking this book.In fact it gave me the gumption to start a sort of comic/text project to put some troubling things always in my head most times unconciously but there all the same and it was great start for me getting it out on good ole objective paper in picture and writing. Look forward to learning so much from this book.

Love this book!
I had a copy I referred to often for classes and for personal insights but lost it to Hurricane Ike. Didn't want to buy new so this one was lovely to find used. In great shape, but did take a couple weeks to gt here. Not a problem because I had no pressing need but for someone using it for papers or projects it would have been frustrating.
