That's five stars for the price, by the by.My resume:I am a multi-effects addict. I try out all the new units. I've owned and heavily gigged with the POD X3 Live, POD HD500X, and the Digitech RP1000. I've used the Headrush and Helix. I get complimented on my tones when I go out and play live and people ask where my amp is (I always go Direct, though I have used tube amps in the past).This unit is fantastic. I've been using the POD HD500X for some years now, and in terms of sounds, this unit blows it away. The amp sims feel like I'm plugging into an amp, and the overdrive sims are AWESOME (suggest this for anyone starting a pedalboard build and wanna try a bunch of overdrive combinations before splurging on the real deals)! The delays, reverbs, and modulations are great (though the Pitch Shift effect is horribly slow, the POD creams it here). It's got that juicy/bloomy/airy feel, and there's SO many effects and drives and they all sound fantastic. The DSP is super limiting, but then again $150 is a super good deal, so a smaller processor it is.I use it for drives and amp/cab sims in front of my POD HD500X (which does everything after the amp/cab sim) for ambient/shoegazey/church stuff, and for metal stuff it goes direct by itself.If you don't need to switch your effects super often and just want a bomb DI rig/backup rig/versatile addition to your pedalboard, this is your girl. If you need an all-in-one unit, lots of processing power, and an expression pedal, save up or the G5N. If you want this to do JUST drives/amp sims or JUST delays/reverbs/modulations, this is perfect. In fact, every guitarist should have one, considering the price.However,The interface is pretty abysmal. In order to choose any effect, you have to scroll through EVERY SINGLE ONE until you get to the desired effect (though I may be doing this wrong). Also, you can't assign the footswitches to specific effects; think of the footswitches as three parts of a window that looks at your effects chain. You can only use the switches on effects that are next to each other. Yes, you can scroll the window to different parts of your chain, but what if you need to turn off a reverb at the end of the chain and turn on a drive at the beginning of it? Get ready to tap dance, partner (speaking of tapping, the tap tempo is buried under that bottom right pedal, kinda have to menu scroll for it).Overall, if you're aware of the limitations and strengths and you're still interested, you're GOING to like this unit. If you're not savvy with multi-effects and don't want to tweak or make presets, stay away.Oh and it's built well and feels good and blah blah blah...

This is a pretty good effects unit. For me it was very easy to use and common sense will let you use this thing right out the gate without any issues. Everything is labeled clearly on the unit and in menu, with even more detail in the manual. Not sure why so many people have issues with the controls.As for me, I set this up to save space on my already packed pedalboard. I get distortion and reverb from my amp, so I only use the G3N in my effects loop to handle delays, chorus, Flanger, and other time based effects, so I cannot comment on how the standard patches, preamps, or other dirt effects sound. I only use this in effects mode. The effects that normally go through the fx loop sound great and have lots of room to adjust to taste. Delays are nice and clean, the looper function is a nice plus. Easy to set up the effects order and dial in the sound. Plug into your computer to download even more options.This unit saved me room on my board, is noiseless and really is great for what I use it for.The Only downside I see is that there is no fx loop on this unit itself. You have a choice, plug this unit directly in front of your amp / PA. Or, plug into your fx loop (send/return) and use to add to your current setup. It would have been nice to be able to do the 4 cable method into this unit and dedicate certain effects to the loop and some to the front of the amp.Overall.. Pretty good!EDIT: I have two of these now and am happy with the current setup. Having two units gives me one in the FX loop and one in front of the amp. This way the effects that sound great in the FX loop go into that unit, and the other effects sound great in front. Pedals are designed to sound better either in the loop or in front so if you only have one unit you sacrifice good sounds from some of the effects. I still use a separate overdrive pedal, however now there are 14 effects available at any one time and I have an excellent variety of tones ready to go. It's also VERY handy ro have a looper built into each unit, using it in the FX loop vs out front both give nice playback and different recordings. Still haven't used this unit direct to a PA it goes directly into my amplifier. I also haven't used any of the cabinet or amp emulators because I am plugged directly into my amp, so those are bypassed. If I plug directly into a PA I will update this review. Thanks.

A lot of people say that this is hard to use or navigate but upon opening it, I found it very easy to use even without using the manual. The navigation is very smart and intuitive, and obviously upon reading the manual, it became even easier to use. So if you're having trouble, I suggest reading the manual (??) It's actually really fun to toy around with and the sound is amazing for the price. There are limitations to the effects, and you can't have an unlimited amount of effects playing at once, but again, for the price point, it's really great. I'm living in a college dorm just learning how to play guitar and it's super affordable, saves a lot of space, its sturdy, and definitely inspires me to keep making music. Overall it's great and I recommend it!

I thought the tone would be OK and this would be useful for practice but I've been able to pull some fantastic tones out of this little wonder. Doing a full amp, cabinet and pedals setup and outputting it to speakers or my amps AUX in port gives me alls sorts of options and I much prefer the Marshall tones to the emulation in my Fender Mustang. The Fender tones are also very good but I find myself using also using it with no amp sim for the pedals and the effects. Really flexible and great tone.The ZNR noise gate is REALLY good. I get a lot of 60 cycle hum in my music room and this works better than anything else I have tried. The Gold Drive is pretty amazing as well. I kick in the Gold Drive and a touch of compression and it's sweet and responsive.The looper and rhythm both work well and work well together. The looper is fairly simple but it's also very easy to use.It's pretty amazing considering the price
