after 5000 or more burns and changing electrodes after about 4000, I can highly recommend this machine. I'm not a guy in a lab somewhere doing a burn now and then. I do hundreds of burns weekly doing PRODUCTION fusion splicing. I have used this machine in my trailer with hot and cold temps, high ambient humidity, dust and dirt, out in the weeds, in IT rooms with no AC plugs in yet and this machine has been ridiculously good delivering .01 burns dozens at a time. It tolerates imperfect cleaves better than any machine I've seen. I wouid literally rather use this machine than the brand new fuji 90s my company just got me. it's a $12000 hit/miss lemon with way too many bells and whistles and more crap to go wrong on it.

This is a great machine. I work for a major telecom company and bought this so my coworkers don't all have to share the few machines we have. Cleaver is awesome as well.

The fusion splicer itself is great. Tools that come with do the job, but there are better options out there for strippers and cutters.

I've wanted my own fusion splicer for a while now. I got it in the mail a few days ago and got to use it in the field right away to splice repairs in a fiber enclosure. The only reason I did not rate it 5 stars is because the cleaver caused me to have to recleave a pair of fibers 3x. I went and got my team's Fujikura CT-50 cleaver, and the Komshine splicer was giving me perfect splices with .01 loss afterwards. The Komshine fusion splicer is mint, so even if you foot the bill for a higher quality cleaver like the CT-50, you'll still be saving and have a quality fusion splicer.

Doesn't do ribbon splicer and can't seem to find attachments for this machine to burn ribbon fiber either...

Not a fan. After 1000 brutal splices and an electrode replacement I would say I’m not a fan. Worked great for the first 250 splices but after that it just started going downhill. Constantly having to recalibrate. Constantly having to do electrode maintenance. I replaced the electrodes at about 500 splices to see if it would improve and no it is not any better. If you rarely have to splice I say go for it but if you are a network splicer using it constantly… it’s not the machine for you.
