[written by his wife] A big improvement over gripping one another's hands or wrists or forearms. I help my infirm hubby up from a lying position and from a seated position much more simply with this device. We both grip it better, the added distance allows us each to have better leverage. We were both surprised at how much less effort it takes as well. I also like that I can put his rollator (walker with wheels) between us so that as soon as he's standing he can, one hand at a time, transfer to it. Without this, I struggled to get out of the way, twisting my back and losing my own balance. Now if I ask, "Need help getting up?" he quickly says "Yes" because he knows it will work without anyone getting winded or hurt. So glad to have this handy!

This has been so very helpful to get my mom off the floor. She's 5'2 and 125 pounds. I don't usually pull her to standing (too hard on my back) but it's an excellent help to get her on her knees to grab something sturdy to get her to a standing position. This has cut down on the number of times we've had to call the ambulance for them to help her. The grip is thick enough for us to wrap our fingers around but not too thick. Mom and I do have small hands but I imagine the way it's constructed would even due well for someone with larger hands (just my opinion). Some said it wouldn't help to get someone off of the floor. I used to have a hard and painful time trying to get her even to her knees and this has elevated that so much. Not entirely easy on my back as I'm 5'4 and 135 pounds but what a difference! I highly recommend this!

Hubby is post-stroke invalid who has serious mobility issues, especially when it comes to standing up. These come in super handy when his regular equipment is not handy for whatever reason. Before I found these, I often had to call for help in getting him upright when his BestCare was not available. With this, he can grasp it with his good hand, put his "bad" hand around it for balance; I grab the other end, somewhat for pulling, but for something steady for him to pull against, & up he comes. Been a lifesaver on occasion, like when the electricity is out & his easy chair is stuck in an awkward position, or he needs to get in/out of a vehicle that doesn't have easy handles. We use it mainly for getting him up when necessary, but, of course, it also works to help lower him into a sit as well.

To small for adult hands.

This really helps if the person has strong arms. My husband is a very large man who cannot stand from a chair without support. With this I can brace myself and he can pull himself up. I have also used this to help position him in a bed.

Very well made and already made a big difference for my 86 year old grandparents. I worry about my grandma becoming injured when she helps my grandpa, who has Parkinson's, stand up. The amount of leverage this gives both of them made an obvious difference in the amount of strain on my grandma. They were very excited that I purchases this on a whim. The packaging was difficult to open. The zip ties are thick and extremely close to the item, and I imagine impossible for older customers to cut through. It's portable enough to carry in an average size purse. I'm glad I bought this and was glad to see how much they both appreciated the usefulness of this handle.

Doesn't work because it is too small. I tried several ways to make this work for my mom and there was no way to get it to work. The width is not enough to allow the person to hold it and stand. I thought I put in for the return, but when I showed up to Staples I had not so I am stuck with this piece of junk. It is an engineering disaster.

Absolutely excellent product! Elderly father has Parkinson's and weighs more than anyone else in the house. It was always a two person effort to get him out of chairs. With this product you just need one person to be able to hold it steady and then (using rocking motion, two rocks back and forth from him in the chair- forward and back, for momentum) the person needing the device can pull themselves up. I think the way the handle is designed it let's the person use their back and shoulders. Whatever the case, it's excellent. I just wish I had gotten it sooner. We purchased one of these handles on the Monday and by the Saturday we bought 2 more. Surely more to come. This is one of the rare reviews I've left, I only do it for the really special products.

The very next day after receiving the device I had a fall. On the first attempt my neighbours were able to raise me off the floor. Very impressed.
