Olde Thompson 5.5" Sunset Fiesta Salt Shaker & Pepper Mill Set, Adjustable Pepper Grinder

My mother had a set of these for the first 10 years of my life. So when I stumbled across these right before Christmas I knew I had to get them. It was like seeing my childhood. I purchased this set for her as she hasn't been happy with a salt and pepper shaker since (I wish I was joking). They are as wonderful as we remember. Heavy in the hand. Adjustable grind for pepper down to fine. Large capacity. Easy to open intentionally, not easy to open unintentionally. Very sturdy, solid construction. Lifetime warranty. And colorful! They are cheerful conversation starters.

This fanciful set arrived a few days ago. These vivid little punctuation marks on our table evoke a smile every time I look at them. Not only that, they work — and better than my older (& pricier) Peugeot set.Also, outstanding customer service from the manufacturer! After my initial burst of joy, I did notice a very thin line on the salt shaker, so I called Olde Thompson to ask if someone there could send me just a new top. The service rep, Lois, was cordial and extremely gracious, and offered to send me an entirely new set at no charge.I mentioned in passing that my wife also liked the clear-acrylic Del Norte set we'd gotten a few years back, but since we'd been turning the pepper mill so badly (back-and-forth, rather than clockwise, as came recommended with the Sunset Fiestas) it didn't work well any more. So partly b/c Lois was encouraging me to get a new Del Norte set, and partly out of gratitude for her more-than-ethical response to my Sunset request, I decided to order a new Del Norte set from her (without searching for a better price somewhere, as is my wont).I thought the decline in efficiency was due to the pepper-mill's age and my ignorant grinding habits, and was ready to pay the $20 (plus shipping) for a new set, but Lois said that the folks at Olde Thompson cared about their customers and honored the company's life-time guarantee, so she was also sending me — gratis — a new Del Norte set to replace the one I felt that user error had rendered less effective.Wow, I'll say Olde Thompson honor its guarantees! (I'd purchased the set long ago, and hadn't even realized we had such a guarantee.) Olde Thompson's response to a minor complaint went way beyond my request, and even beyond my normal expectations for fair treatment.So hooray for Lois! Now my new mantra is "Buy from Olde Thompson, Buy from Olde Thompson"! And I'll bet that if you like a whimsical splash of color, you'll like their Sunset Fiesta salt & pepper set, too.

This set is really pretty and colorful! I liked them as soon as I saw them! They look really nice on the table. I’ve always like using a pepper grinder and this one is perfect. The salt shaker is perfect too. Although you have to turn the top to dispense the salt it doesn’t pour too much out at once. Thinking about getting a set to give as a gift!

Though not obtrusively large on the counter, these hold a heck of a lot of product. The pepper that came with them is wonderful and I switched to that brand. I get many compliments on this set. They clean up nicely. For a year they held up to daily use and kept their like new look but...I will buy another set because the salt shaker broke after one year and I don't feel it's the fault of the manufacturer. A male guest grabbed it and twisted it open hard without care, breaking it in two between the blue and yellow section.To OPEN the salt shaker hold it on the YELLOW part and gently unscrew the red top. Don't hold the blue part. And don't screw the top on so tight that you'll snap it off when opening. In other words, keep helpful, strong people who are not calm from refilling these and you'll be fine.

I purchased a set of these about 20 years ago at a Disney Resort in Vero Beach Fl. I just loved them and they looked so cute and added a pop of color in the kitchen. One of them broke and I’ve been looking for them for about two years. The kitchen stores available grinders were utilitarian and not what I wanted. So happy to have found these on Amazon, thanks Amazon!PS. I think I twisted the bottom part accidentally to refill (wrong place) and broke it off, it worked for awhile after I superglued it but…. It wasn’t really functional and could not hold up, so all that to say, these shakers and grinders will last years and years. It was my fault the one broke, I just wasn’t paying attention.

Colorful and works well. Wish they would’ve come empty instead of full of questionable salt and pepper from China. Don’t know how long it’s been in there.

The colors are great, i love the way they look in my kitchen, and I enjoy using them. The salt shaker takes regular grind table salt, and the pepper shaker is a peppercorn grinder. The grind mechanism feels like a good quality, smooth not rough grind. I like it.The only thing I didn't like was that this order was fulfilled by Amazon and these were obviously returns. They were filled with salt and peppercorns, and they weren't cleaned before being sent back. Once I wiped them down, they looked better. They still have a bit of scraping at the point where the two rubbed against each other in shipping, because they weren't packed properly when sent back. I don't know if I should expect more from Amazon customers in cleaning what they send back, or from Amazon in looking over returned items. It's obvious nobody looked at this return. But I love the set and I think that the NEW set by bus worth this price.

My daughter has this set and has used it for years. It was a no brainer for me to buy a set for our vacation home. It is decorative without being hokey. This brand has high quality components so you'll never have to mess with the pepper grinder. The shape is easy to grip. They arrive filled; a nice touch. Under the top of the salt is a small white plastic cap which you need to remove. I am keeping it to seal the salt from the ocean air which can turn salt into a chunky mess. I am pleased with this purchase.

This is a great set, good size and nice and bright. Pepper mill grinds great and easy to fill.

I had one of the pepper mills given me as a gift many years ago, so was delighted to find a set to buy in the UK at such a good price. Obviously, they are not for people who like boring stuff and are afraid of bright colours, but If you think you like the look of them on the website, then you'll absolutely love their super shiny acrylic joyous beauty in real life!

Loved the colour and finish of these shakers, bright, shiny, colorful finish - very classy sunset design - perfect match for my dinnerware - good size shakers and the grinder actually works, not big chunks or fine dust. The shakers appear to be designed so the pepper and salt actually end up on the food and not all over the table or bench - highly recommend

I purchased this set 15 years ago. I also purchased a set for our friends. The set looks like new and works like new. So, when I saw the set on Amazon, I was thrilled. I bought a set for myself and my daughter. I informed friends where to purchase because they also thought the pepper grinder the best they had ever owned. Well done Olde Thompson!
