Beast of a magnet. Delivered early thanks!

Okay, so I had this and loved using it but let my grandson use it and he lost it. One needs to be very careful when using it around anything metal because it is so strong, it won’t come off. He got it stuck on the bridge and then couldn’t get it off. I night buy another but will wait until spring.

Yes, it is a powerful magnet that does indeed work well. Will it lift a total of 3000 lbs?--I seriously doubt it. Can I lift 3000 lbs? Absolutely not. Does the manufacturer even list this specific magnet in their catalog?--No. Does it match the dimensions of the 2000 lb magnets? --Yes. Will it pick up WAY more objects than a flatter magnet?--definitely. If you compare these to the "actual" magnets used by the YT guys, theirs are about 1" thicker (not necessarily wider) which gives them much better "reach" to grab things.... But they cost far more as well. At this price point (with the included rope, gloves, clips), this is still a pretty good deal for a very capable magnet. **UPDATE** Like several other users have mentioned, my magnet also cracked after a few months of use. This is due to 2 reasons: 1) The stainless steel covering for the magnet is far too thin (maybe 2 mm). When the magnet impacts rocks/hard objects during drops, the shell deforms and creates acute pressure on the magnet, thereby cracking it. 2) This unit is not constructed of 1 solid magnet, but rather a stack of several ~4mm thick donuts. While it is still a strong magnet, this cheaper stack construction makes the cross-section of the magnet rather fragile when combined with the thin shell. There are better options out there.

Strong. Sinks rapidly

I was only able to use for a few hours before it latched on to a steal beam on a bridge. It is a strong magnet. I wish it had a second ring attachment so you can pop it off when necessary. There is no doubt you will lose the magnet the way it’s currently designed.

This magnet is an overpriced joke. At first I was really cautious, not wanting to pinch my fingers. Then after trying a few small items, it became apparent this magnet was weak. I have magnets that are less than an inch on each side that are far, far, far stronger than this magnet. My young daughter can safely play with this, pull it off any high-ferrous steel surface, and not get pinched or hurt. I have other 5-10 dollar magnets that she can't pull off or that can pinch her. But this magnet (advertised as 2000 pounds, 360 degrees) is so weak it's completely child-safe in terms of pinching risk. There's just no strength. For example, a 10 pound pull removes it from a typical non-stainless steel service panel. Not at all what I expected from something advertised as 2000 pounds. The description of this product is enticing, but the product you get isn't what's in the description. You get a weak magnet wrapped in a thin stainless case with a nice stainless eyebolt. I paid ~$65 on sale and that was at least $55 too much. The only thing of value is the stainless eyebolt. The $120+ regular price for this magnet is absolutely outlandish. That's over a 10x markup. In short, don't waste your time if you need a strong magnet. What you will get isn't at all what is described.

Got this as un upgrade to the set I ordered and this does just fine for what I want. Had a few big bits out of river so far. Just make sure you use thread lock on the bracket. Happy magnet fishing

I'm sure the companies have some sort of lab test to give magnets their ratings, but your shouldn't put too much faith in those numbers when using in the real world. The rated pull should correspond to how strong the surrounding magnetic field is and yet ... this unit can grab a free nail about 2" away. It is not at all difficult to remove any object stuck to it, so I don't see where their 1320 lbs. pull rating comes into play. Maybe under 'ideal and specific' conditions, but in practical use it's just another magnet.

Just what i needed and well made

Excellent. I actually have it stored, holding rope and gear from the I-Beam in my basement. Only way to get it off is with a pry bar. It’s the bits, yeah.

I purchased this magnet with 1 project in mind. I had a heavy chain to retreive from the bottom of a lake. I had my doubts that the magnet would work but boy oh boy was I wrong. This magnet hooked on and did not let go easily. I am extremely satisfied.
