Only if they are VERY mechanically inclined, and can rebuild it to work as it should. As an avid collector of these type sets, it's cheap and at least mostly metal, (unlike the sad "toy" that Erector and Meccano have become), but it doesn't go together easily and doesn't work as advertised. I did build this model, it does look okay when wrestled together, but very poorly designed. As per instructions the wheels don't even turn properly in their mountings, as they contact the sides very badly. It does kinda look like a bat-mobile when finished and isn't too bad looking on the shelf. Quality is kinda hit and miss as it's totally a Chinese clone of Meccano or Erector, the screws are not very cooperative unless you've some decent experience at such animals. (ie Chinese M4 screws don't match up nearly as well as Euro ones, or standard US type #8's as used in old Erector sets. If someone were to aid that is mechanical, or if the child is VERY good at mechanical things, then it's probably worth the money, but be aware it's not well designed. If the child loves building things, the 1990's Erector/Meccano sets are still available fairly reasonably on eBay and are a much better value for the money. But they're not the "bat mobile" so I'm not so sure which I'd say as I don't know your nephew. I hope this helps.
