Behind the Scenes with Burt: A Breaking Cat News Adventure

Our whole family loves this series. The book sparked a great obsession that had both kids creating their own comics and films based on the characters. Funny and lovely and cute!

This comic is based on real cats, and the characters, even though they probably don't wear suits in real life, or have little microphones to report the news, do react in cat-like ways and do cat-like things. The artwork is absolutely beautiful; Georgia does the colors in watercolors, which adds to the subtle beauty of the characters and their surroundings. The humor is CAT! Highly recommended!

I love Breaking Cat News and was excited when this became available for Kindle, now I can take my BCN with me everywhere I go. The quality of the strips is the same as the website and just as charming and fun. Have all the BCN Kindle books and am very happy with all my purchases.

While I know that I can go back and re-read any of these online, there is just something about having a physical copy to cozy up with. This book comes after Elvis Puffs Out, and features our favorite fluffy felines from Breaking Cat News. Love the Our IX Lives arcs, the paper dolls, the storylines, etc. Per usual, my kids took over this book before I was able to, but I’ve finally had a few quiet moments to enjoy it for myself. This whole series (5 books so far) makes a wonderful gift for anyone who loves cats and comics. Suitable for all ages, which is hard to say about many comics these days!

My 11 year old grandson loves this series! Looking forward to more.

The cats are at it again, their antics enjoyable and laughable, and familiar to those of us who live with cats.

This is a wonderful book for any cat lover of any age, and especially fans of the comic "Breaking Cat News", which appears in newspapers and online (GoComics.com). Beautifully drawn and colored. The artist Georgia Dunn uses water colors, and she is an expert! I highly recommend this book, and all the others in the series. You will not be disappointed! And yes, I bought this book for my well-aged self!

Another great Breaking Cat News book. This book was a bit different from the previous ones because it started to cover strips from when Breaking Cat News started appearing in newspapers which required a few changes. Some of the stories covered were covered in earlier books that had the web only strips but there were a lot of new stories too. The book started with the Our IX Lives Christmas special. This might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I have always enjoyed the strips about the soap opera, and these strips were special when they came out because Georgia did them while she was taking her break to prepare the strips for newspapers and I always considered them her Christmas gift to us fans.Besides a few that were included in the back when Georgia explain about how she started out in the beginning with the dailies in the newspapers being colored by a colorist, none of the daily strips from the from the first few months were in the book. If you enjoyed the book you might want to go to GoComics and check out the daily strips from 3/27/17 - 7/22/17. A number of them were reworked from the web comics, but some of them were new.

I make no attempt to objectively “review” Georgia Dunn’s brilliant Breaking Cat News comic, I simply adore each and every panel she creates. “Behind the Scenes with Burt” is no exception to that rule, and in fact I love it even more than all of her other books - because this one includes strips I’ve not previously seen, yay! There’s some information here about the process of coloring comic strips for print newspapers and digitally, there are costumes for the characters for children to cut out and use, and there are priceless descriptions of important events like the 2 AM Running of the Cats (lamps, beware!), a Trip to the Vet and the Attack of the Vacuum Cleaner, among many other important matters. This is a book for everyone who loves cats, and the people who love the people who love cats; highly recommended!
