Great Kit but there is a trick to finding the factory wiring in an Outback.
I just got finished installing this but I assume it will hold up. I installed it in a 2016 Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited. I bought an ECO Hitch from Tork Lift Central and they sold this adapter as well. It was almost twice as expensive on their website so I bought mine here. If you are still looking for a hitch I highly recommend theirs. Much better looking than the other aftermarket options and I got a 2 inch receiver unlike the $800 plus one from the dealer. Installation isn't too bad until it is time to find the plug and make the connection. Most of the online installation videos gloss over this part. I read another review somewhere that mentioned removing the cargo tie down point behind the drivers side rear seat. The plug is basically right next to the opening. i used a flat blade screwdriver to break the tape and pull the plug out the hole. The other review also mentioned fishing the adapted wiring up from under the bottom of the trim panel and pulling it out if the hole too. Then you simply plug them in and pull the wiring back behind the trim panel. Right by where you pull the wiring out you will see a couple studs with nuts on them. I cut off the small ring terminal and attached the larger one provided in the kit. It fit perfectly over the stud so I removed the nut and attached it there. From here it is your preference what to do with the wiring. I tucked it up behind the trim panel and routed the wire under the foam panels under the floor to where the spare tire is. Another review mentioned making a short extension plug to run out from the spare tire compartment through a grommet that is located there. This way you won't risk damaging the end of the wiring kit. This will probably only be easy if you are removing the bumper to install the hitch.Hopefully this helps someone else like other reviews helped me. I recommend this kit and it seems well made. Plus they included the ring terminal I needed so I didn't even have to run to the store to buy anything else.

perfect part
perfect part. there is a video for easy install. for my 2025 Subaru it took less than 5 minutes. previous Subaru models took a little longer due to where the harness plugs in. this years was very easy

1,2,3 and you're done!
Fit the car perfectly, simple to install, saved over $100 by doing it myself v.s. having the hitch installer do it. really only takes 15-20 minutes and most of that time is removing and installing the car interior pieces that have to come out to access the in-car harness. Be sure to use a harness tester to confirm that everything is working properly, I had to disconnect and reconnect the harness connector once to ensure a solid connection, also be sure your ground is really electrically connected to the frame, some metal pieces of cars today are not electrically bonded to the frame. Everything is working as expected.

Perfect for 2016 Outback
Our Subaru came with a hitch receiver but no electrical connections, which are necessary for even a small Uhaul trailer, so I bought this after reading an install guide online... and it works perfectly! The hardest part of the whole process is getting to the electrical plug behind the cargo bay side panel, but even that is pretty simple (tip: the two pieces of blue tape wrapped around the plug wires can be slipped off by hand, even if you can't get your head down there to see them). After that, you just plug this connector in, drill a small hole to attach the ground wire to the car frame, and stick the signal converter behind one of the panels (double-sided tape included). There is a rubber cap for the 4-pin connector, so you could technically leave it dangling out the back of the trunk, but it stashes nicely in the spare tire tray under the cargo area floor when not needed.

Very simple installation
Have yet to install this into my car but, original packaging was open upon arrival with a rubber band around it to keep the product from falling out. All of the necessary hardware for installation does appear to be accounted for. Update: Installation was very simple. It is quite literally "plug and play" after installation I purchased a Test light from my local Harbor Freight for less than $5 and everything works as it is supposed to. On the installation I would recommend doing a slight bit of research for a better grounding method than the provided self-tapping screw. I removed the metal bracket and installed the ground wire to the backside of the of bracket. To do so, you will have to slightly enlarge the hole on the ground wire or replace it with the included hardware.

Mostly Works
Works well but recently the running lights don’t light up. Break lights still work though.

Excellent and tip on 2021 Subaru Outback OEM harness location
Install was an absolute breeze on my 2021 Subaru Outback. Tip - the OEM factory harness for this to plug into is in the rear of the vehicle, open up the area where the spare tire is, under the rear floor ... and the harness is taped up in the top right rear of that compartment. This is not where many of the YT videos suggest.

Fits - Works
If you can access the port on you car, a little difficult but doable on my Subaru Outback, this is easy to plug in and it works properly. Brake lights, turn signal, etc., it all functions properly.

Works perfectly, installs in minutes with hand tools. Used one of the bolts securing the trunk lid latch to ground so I didn't have to remove paint.
