SSK 128GB USB Flash Drive up to 550MB/s USB 3.2 Gen2 Externel Thumb Drive

Anyone need a true SS 2TB stick, this it is! Tested on torrenting applications...just like you who are reading this is planning to use. Don't deny it ;) Positives Very fast, registers as a 3.2usb device. The speeds are blazing (untested) from a user experience only. Great heat distribution, this stick as you can imagine can get hot. The case around it is made of steel. It's created to cool down upon high file transfers. No other USB stick I found uses the entire stick as a heatsink to keep itself cool. My only complaint is not paying for copper instead of steal. Some users have reported that this can be modified in the future (outside warranty). *** I have confirmed this is a TRUE 2TB. Does NOT recycle data. Neutral It's a beast when it comes to durability and ruggness. It's a tough monster that is heavy. If your looking for something light for keychain, look elsewhere. Yes keep any magnetics away from this too. Negatives Hmm, no other color options? Copper would be a better more costly metal. I don't think encryption hardware/software is included (use your own).

Super fast and reliable flash drive. I use it for music in the car, on my phone, or a bootable drive for OS repairs. Can't say the keychain sheath has gotten much use but its a neat perk. Just all around it a perfect drive for everything I need. Not to mention the customer support at SSK is beyond phenomenal. I have never had a more straight forward and beneficial experience with tech support from any company like I have with SSK. Rest assured this flash drive and all SSK products I own have out lived their expiration date. I had an older model flash drive begin to overheat with intermittent connectivity and after a little troubleshooting SSK went above and beyond to replace my faulty drive. Can't thank them enough 🙏 it was even out of warranty. 100% would buy SSK

I got this not sure how fast it would be, because the last flashdrive I got was unreliable and overheated. This one definitely gets warm after use, but it is so blazing fast. I have been using it for months now and have transferred so many files. I am extremely happy with it. The solid metal feel is sturdy and resistant while also protecting your fingers from the heat when you reach for it. It managed to make it through a hectic move across the country and I love the USB-C that comes with it. My Dad only has USB-C ports so it's perfect when he asks me for my videos. It transfers Gigabytes of data in seconds! Don't go for the ultra cheap ones, they don't store as much as advertised, are unreliable, and slow. My Dad lost Gigabytes of data because of this. Get this so you don't waste your time, and start enjoying blazing fast and reliable file transfers!

Wow, this is super fast! I never had a jump drive respond that quickly before. Zoooom! I appreciate the slim, sleek design and definitely needed the USB-C adapter. It's nice that it comes with a carry case - if you need that. One warning, the USB-C adapter doesn't fit into the case with the drive, and don't make the mistake of popping the drive cover and/or the USB-C adapter into the case before the drive as they will be hard to get back out. Overall, a great product. I would definitely buy it again.

Ok I'll start off with the build quality. As soon as I opened it up out of the box I could feel this baby's got some weight to it for such a small USB SSK SSD. I bought the 256G version and so far it's well worth it to me. The adapter it came with it will not work on my Samsung Galaxy 22 with it's OtterBox case on it. So that's kind a bummer. Even though I wouldn't use with my phone very much and if I do I'll just use my C-->USB adapter I previously purchased. Bottom line is shipping was fast, seems like a good product and time will tell. My only other suggestion would be an entire cover for the USB3 instead of half covered with a flip top. But ai knew that going in so not the sellers fault. Ok. I it worked for about a day. Then suddenly none of my devices would recognize it OR let me format it. I tried formatting with a Samsung Galaxy 22, Asus Chromebook, Acer Chromebook, an HP Pavillion runnning Ubuntu and a Windows desktop running windows 11. All to no avail. Some say its blocked and some will "format" for hours and accomplish nothing. I never pulled out the SSD without first dismounting and or ejection so I dont know how to proceed. I don't know how to contact the seller directly to hopefully resolve this matter so fingers crossed they see my follow up review. Will keep everyone posted.

Works great for video editing! I keep all my video files here as they would quickly clutter my PC. Runs really fast, zero issues here

2023-09-23 UPDATE: Do not buy this drive because it falls apart. See the attached photo. This happened to me soon after I bought my first drive, but at that time, SSK answered my email and sent me a free replacement. The exact same defect happened with the replacement several month later. When I emailed SSK recently, they refused to reply. The company clearly has deep quality problems. This is a shame, because the drive has potential. Also, the #1 feature that I used to like about this drive was that it had sustained good transfer speeds (see original review below). But lately I have noticed that its transfer speed seems to oscillate. (Well, it could be caused by the source SATA SSD that I am copying files from that is the culprit, but I think that it is more like the SSK thumb drive that I am copying to.) -------------------------------------------------- ORIGINAL review: I am hungry for a high performance flash drive. I want an SSD on a small stick. The number 1 defect in every flash drive that I have owned up till now is that you get their rated speeds for maybe10-30 seconds, and then, due to crap thermal designs, the controller detects over heating and throttles the speed down by 3-5X. Disaster when you want to do serious file transfers. This drive, however, is the first that I have ever owned which seems to maintain its speed over long time periods. Writing a 20 GB file to it sees no diminishment in speed over the minute or so that that takes. I also love how the width and depth of this drive are minimal. My main complaint about this drive is that I do not like its flip cap. I would prefer a traditional cap. SSK: just make sure that you can put the cap on the non port end when you have the drive inserted, so that you do not lose the cap. SSK: you also need to revise this product to have a USBC-C version that gets the speeds of the Kingston DataTraveler Max. I would have bought the Kingston, but a) it is way too wide (causes port crowding) and b) it thermally throttles.

Wow!! This drive is awesome! Big space, really fast!! Impressive speed!! Does get really hot when copying large drive data, 247GB to be exact. But for the speed, super happy. Fastest drive I've ever used. I've had it for 2 years, I think, and it hasn't slowed down like my Patriot drive. I even ran a couple FEA from it accidentally and it was able to handle it. It doesn't really get to 500mb/s, but it's still very fast.

I purchased this flash drive for the purpose of running a personal Windows instance while travelling with my work laptop. I've attempted this in the past but haven't been successful as most flash drives do well with sequential access then fall on their face when it comes to random access. I'd previously resorted to using a 2.5" SSD in an external enclosure but it's a bit unwieldy when using my laptop in a small space (e.g. on my lap on a bench, on an airplane tray table, etc.) or moving around. Therefore, I decided to give the flash drive approach another shot. There are probably other flash drives that would do well (e.g. Kingston DataTraveler Max) but I was looking for a balance between cost and performance, which I think I've found in the SSK SD300. For small to medium sized files, it benchmarks on par with my 2.5" Samsung 970 EVO (in an external enclosure), even beating it slightly in some tests. Most importantly, it keeps up in the random access department. However, its limitations become telling when hitting it with sustained writes (either with very large files or just hammering continuously). It gets very hot and performance is impacted. We'll see if this has any long term implications as I see quite a few reviews about it conking out in short order. In summary, SSD flash drives still aren't quite up to par but they are getting there. For my use case, it works well enough and I'm willing to trade a bit of performance for a compact form factor. However, if you're going to be transferring large files or using it for sustained writes, this flash drive might not be the right choice for you.

Got the 128gb version. Was tired of waiting 15 minutes to transfer 4 GB videos onto a usb stick from my main PC to media PC. Went from 15 mins to 15 seconds. 7mbps write to 300 Mbps write. 350/400 read. Incredibly happy with this purchase.
