Amazing Monitor, I want a second! - Mac/PC Users Readme First!
I bought this to hook up to my 2009 Macbook Pro. It is the best monitor I ever had and I am a Samsung Fan through and through. It comes factory calibrated, which is why you pay the extra price, but is worth it.PC users - First install the drivers that came on the CD and reboot the computer. If you are using this on a Mac, there are a few things you must do to get the performance out of this monitor, or you won't like the defaults:1) Buy a good quality Dual Link DVD-D connector, instead of the single link cheap cable that comes with the monitor, here is the link for the one I bought: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001Y7Z4Y/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=12) Use an "Apple" mini display port to DVI connector: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001IF5YLQ/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 -If your computer has hdmi instead, buy the equivalent "Apple" hdmi to DVI adapter.3) Download the optimized U2410 color profile from this site and follow the instructions on installing it:[...] - Skip step #2 where he has the brightness and contrast settings ( they are not optimal )4) Set up the monitor with my settings ( took me a while to get the "perfect" settings ): Brightness - 69 Contrast - 81 Color Settings - Input Color Format - RGB Gamma - MAC Mode Selection - Graphics Preset Modes - Adobe RGB Display Settings - Sharpness - 60 *These settings will work for PC as well, just change the Gamma to PC instead of MAC.5) Make sure the main computer you are using is on the DVI - 1 Input.6) Download TinkerTool and under font smoothing, set the font smoothing to Medium.7) If using OSX Mountain Lion, Apple "optimized" font smoothing for their retina displays, which makes the fonts blurrier on other displays. Run this command in terminal: defaults write com.apple.dt.Xcode NSFontDefaultScreenFontSubstitutionEnabled -bool YES-This brings back the font smoothing that was released in Lion that looks much better and also makes the Macbook Pro display look better. Now reboot the computer. After these are completed, it will look just like the 24" Imac / Apple Cinema Displays!CONS: Back of Monitor does get a little warmer than a LED backlit monitor, but who cares.

it's bright!
So far, I'm quite thrilled with these monitors. Have 2- don't know how I've done without all these years - use autocad on one screen and pdf file on the other - no more clutter on my desk - especially as my drawings tend to be 6 feet in length! They are very bright - found myself backing away from the monitor the first few weeks before I got used to them. I use white screen with black linework rather than dark screen with colors -so can only tell you that I'm very happy with what I use and see when I work on 3d modeling and drawing layout.Have viewed photographs with 2 megapixel thru 10 megapixel size and you can definitely see the dots and sharpness with this screen. It's especially great when trying to 'edit' the photos...I can now see where I need to do 'touch-ups' without squinting. They're still too close for my liking, but the double stand/support I bought for them is proving to be awkward Dual Monitor Flex Stand Up To 24IN 22LBS/MONITOR -- so I'm using the provided support - which was quite easy to install - slide in and "snap" you're ready to go.The menu control on the bottom right hand corner of the monitor frame is very sensitive - if you try to grasp the frame near the bottom(as you do to adjust tilt and so on) you're likely to turn on the menu - slightly annoying the first few times adjusting the tilt - but one learns to keep away from the corner]Haven't tried all the bells and whistles yet...but so far very happy. So happy in fact, I bought one for myself for home-can't wait to see blu-ray movie on it...have a Sony 40" Bravia - and it's not as bright as this Dell!

I'll never buy another cheap monitor again! Astounding.
This monitor is simply astounding. Color is amazing, the menu buttons are cool, and it's sharp. The wide color gamut can throw you off a bit if you don't know how to handle it, but the monitor has a very nice normal color button that fixes it to standard rgb if you prefer.Basically, after seeing the picture on this monitor, I will never buy a cheap monitor again. This looks so much better than anything I've ever owned before. Some negatives:The pip setting in the menu is way too difficult to access and use quickly. If you need to be doing a lot of multitasking, unless you set it on one setting and never change it, you will find yourself aggravated at the amount of "button pressing" you have to do. (Technically, you don't press buttons, you put your finger over blue lights. Kinda cool). No speakers. This is a good thing imo, but I could see it being bad for some people. You will need to either use the default audio out or purchase the sound bar separately. I bought my bar here on amazon (read my review if you'd like), and it's not bad.16:9 ratio. This is actually not a bad thing! It's a product feature; however, I just wanted people to be aware that if you use your xbox 360, you either need to let the screen scale it (ugly) or you need to accept the fact that you will have small black borders on the top and bottom (not too noticeable, imo.)
