Are they hard enough to catch with a glove? The one that came with his glove is so soft it bounces out of the glove.

Sometimes my 6 my year old grandson bats these balls right back up the middle. I have no problem catching them with a glove in this situation as well as when he throws them to me from the outfield. Be aware that they are very bouncy, and you can't count on them moving like a regular baseball or softball. if you don't catch the ball on the fly, better anticipate a high bounce that will even change direction if no on a smooth, flat surface. Because they are not as hard as a baseball, my grandson isn't afraid of them, even though he has been hit on occasion.

What kind of bat should be used to hit these balls? I'm afraid a plastic wiffle ball bat would not hold up.

Bought these to teach my kids to throw and catch mostly. For hitting, it would be too heavy for a wiffle ball bat. You'd need at least a foam bat, or a t-ball bat would be better.

Do these balls have a cover on them ? Other balls I've bought have a cover and it comes off or peels during wall ball.

They do have a cover and yes they do start to peel off after some time.
