It's very light and it could be steel under the enameling, and would therefore work on an induction cook surface. However, if it's aluminum I don't believe it will. Check with the Columbian Home Products, Terre Haute, Indiana for more information.

will the 33 quart canner hold 1/2 gal. Ball jars ???? thanks for your time John

Yes, this will hold (7) 1/2 Gallon Ball Jars easily, and that is with the included rack in the canner, and lid on it. Like the others had commented, I do not think that you can get an inch of water over the jars, although in my experience you dont really need it, and funny how ball makes the jars, but gives no recipies for using these large jars! I'm sure the jars will still seal even if they are not completely covered. I would not recommend trying to move it while it is full though! There are no handles, and I do not use mine in the house, I use it in the garage over a propane stove. Good Luck!

it says it will hold 9 qts .....if you take the rack out and put the rings in the bottom like i do on mine can you fit 12 qts in it?

I don't think so -- the wire rack holds six around the sides and one in the middle.
