Helly-HansenMen's Alpha Infinity Jacket

Spend the money
I ordered this one and the Alpha LifaLoft, because I wanted to compare the two. Now, I don't ski. But, I've got a Belgian Malinois dog. I take her to the park every day for at least an hour, unless we have rain. I chase her, then put her through some personal protection and attack training. Then I'll take her off leash in the neighborhood at night about review stating Tough choice I had to make, and walk a mile or so. So, yesterday, I received both coats. I tried the Alpha Infinity on first. Fit was great. Very comfortable. Extremely thin and light. It was between 31 and 32 degrees outside. We went to the park, and all I had on was a t-shirt underneath it. It is hard to explain how it felt, regarding warmth. I was not cold. I was not hot. It almost seemed as if it was maintaining the exact temperature of heat my body was putting off. So, if my body temperature was at 98 degrees when I put it on, the coat seemingly maintained that exact temperature. Even if I chased the dog, I did not get hotter. With the wind chill, it was 22 degrees. The coat kept me warm, and, again, I was only in a t-shirt. Then, I put the Alpha LifaLoft on. It feels about a pound or so heavier. But, it seems to be just a little thicker. It regulated heat the exact same way the Alpha Infinity did. There was a 10 mph wind as well. I feel the coat regulated itself to keep my body temperature at whatever it was. Overall, it felt more like a winter jacket, because it was a little heavier, and a tiny bit thicker. Once I got home, I threw on a nice hoodie over my t-shirt. To my surprise, nothing changed when I put on either coat and took a mile stroll. My temperature was regulated to maintain itself at whatever temperature it started out as. But, at no time, whether in the t-shirt only, or the t-shirt with the hoodie, did I overheat, nor did I get cold. I stayed warm. They are both excellent coats. I decided to keep the Infinity, because it is just as warm as the LifaLoft, but is a little lighter. But both are incredible products. You can't go wrong with either one. It just comes down to preference. They both fit me the same, and were very comfortable. The Infinity, though, does have more features, which justify the $50 difference. Oh, and the wind was a non-issue with both coats. They repelled the wind like garlic repels a vampire. I hope this review helps. Read more

Color noticeably faded after only 50 days of skiing
This is a comfortable warm jacket with lots of nice features. I bought this jacket in fall 2022 and am writing this in spring 2024. I got the color "Darkest Spruce." Over the two ski seasons I have owned it, I wore it for 52 days of skiing--30 days in the east, where it is mostly not sunny, and 22 days in the west, where maybe half the days were sunny. I *only* wear it skiing. The color is very noticeably faded in certain areas. For example, the tops of the sleeve forearms are now obviously lighter than the undersides. I might expect this with a cheaper brand, but this jacket cost me $600, and I expected it to last for years--not just two seasons. This is extremely poor performance. This is my second bad experience with a Helly Hansen product.

Warm and comfy!
This jacket checks all of the boxes for resort skiing! I’m 5’8” and 150. Ordered a medium to have room for layering. Wore this on an overcast 40° day and was perfect with a base layer. Good phone, extra lens and lift ticket pockets. Helley-Hansen is my favorite and this one lives up to the price.

Defective item, inner pocket came ripped
Jacket has a pretty good and snug fit, however, the inner pockets arrived ripped as you can see in the image. Not sure if it's HH quality but I'd expect better sewing quality or better product quality.

Attenzione alle taglie
La giacca ha la cerniera nera e non gialla, la taglia L è sicuramente una XL in quanto maniche più lunghe di una decina di centimetri rispetto a una M. Per il resto è una buona giacca.
