I had been making salads with knives- slicing the onions, cutting the carrots. And not to mention cutting potatoes for my baked potato gratin. My immediate family has always been small. We are a family of 4. I never have any complains on cutting until recently when I started throwing dinner parties for my extended family and my kids’ friends. The “simple” recipes are no longer simple when I had to cut 3 kg of potatoes and a heapful of onions, cucumbers, and carrots. Not to mention there are garlics, cabbage, and capsicums and so on. I remembered the first dinner party, I needed my mom to come over to help me with just the cutting! It was a nightmare.To get an electric food processor is bulky and expensive. So, I decided to get a Mandolin slicer. It takes up much less space and I do not have to do the chopping near an electric socket.I was searching the Amazon website and decided to try the 3Haus Mandolin Slicer. I was attracted by the pictures and the clean look of the tool. Anyway, I got it 2 weeks ago, just in time before my sister and her family came down to visit for the weekend. I was excited to put my new tool to a test. My sister and I decided to play a little game and competed with the new Mandolin slicer vs my good-old-knife.I was using the Mandolin slicer. The blade was sharp. The cutting was effortless. And the control of cut, which is the switch from slicing to shredding to the different width of shredding is extremely easy to maneuver. Needless to say, the mandolin slicer won! It is a simple tool which requires no set-up. Washing is also easy as the design is neat and simple.I bought this for the use of big meal preparation and intended to keep aside before the next party comes. However, I have been using it even for my daily meal preparation because it is really easy to use! It became a permanent tool on my chopping board and I think I will get one for my mom and my sister as well. :-)

Needing a slicer to slice onions for Christmas Eve dinner, I was excited about using this to make my day easier. Boy was I wrong! The slicer was good enough but I wasn't watching what I was doing and on the second onion I sliced the tip of my finger off! Christmas Eve and bleeding profusely, plus living in the middle of nowhere, I luckily had a friend who is a nurse and she managed to stop the bleeding. The good side is that I got out of cooking the rest of Christmas and doing dishes. That being said, the slicer worked great. It was sturdy and of good quality. I don't want to give it a bad review just because I was being stupid while using it. Just beware that is is a potentially dangerous device. Use the holder that comes with it and pay attention what you are doing. I think I will donate mine to the local thrift shop.

As what was written, it is indeed easy to use and safe (if you follow exactly what it says in the instruction manual)! I have read reviews about finger being cut off, and was afraid. But I am so glad when I opened up the package and see that the round safety food holder is big and sturdy. It fits nicely in my palm and the bottom plate covers the whole runway as I slide the food.I just had to turn the dial to the desired cut and thickness to do whatever I need it to do. After using, I just let it run under water (without touching any part of the blades to prevent unwanted injury to my precious fingers) let it dry and store away till next use.It is well built so I should be able to use the most out of it before getting a replacement. You will be as satisfied as me with this purchase.

Arrived just in time to prep for a large party. Read the instructions and, after a little trial and error, made mounds of julienned beets, carrots, onions, and cheese; sliced onions, zucchini, bell peppers, sweet potatoes,and tomatoes (I don't recommend slicing really soft ones). Incredible time saver! Cleanup was simple and easy. I like not having lots of parts (separate blades). I did bend a couple of the julienne blades (probably on the beets or carrots), but bending them back was not too difficult. I do wonder about the long-term durability (I do like my beets).

This is a nice little unit for light use of everyday garden produce, but would not count on it for heavy duty use. It cleans up quickly and easily, usually with just a good rinse. Like the rubberized feet that make it more stationary. The design is pretty good except I do wish that the collapsible leg had the ability to lock in place instead of just flopping when the unit is picked up. Am happy with this purchase and would recommend it to others.

This is the first mandoline slicer I have used. I wish there were better instructions. It does great on cucumber slices, but I haven't had success with julienne carrots. I would really like to julienne sweet potatoes, but if it does like the carrots it is a disappointment. Am I missing something?

This is a great tool. It is very sharp, easy to take apart to clean, easy to store. I just wish they had made the main blade removable for sharpening or replacing.

Nice size and somewhat convenient. Love the adjustment knob, however, it does interfere with the ability of the legs to fold completely flat and out of the way. That all being stated, yes, I would recommend purchasing.
