Finally! A powerful plan for women to take back their health!
After struggling for more than 2 years with chronic exhaustion, insomnia, stubborn weight gain, and other symptoms, I was thrilled to stumble upon Dr. Aviva's book and counted the days until it was released and showed up in my mailbox. I just finished reading it this morning, and It is everything I was hoping it would be and more.At least 25% of the women I know (and probably closer to 50%) struggle with low energy; hormone, thyroid, or autoimmune problems; and/or anxiety/depression. Unable to get help from their primary physicians, many of them have just resigned themselves to living this way. But it doesn't need to be so! Drawing upon cutting edge research, Dr. Aviva connects the dots between chronic exhaustion, digestive trouble, autoimmune disease, hormone imbalances, insomnia, stubborn weight gain, bad moods, and a host of other seemingly unrelated symptoms--that in reality are very much related!. She understands the problem, and what's more, she has answers and solutions.Women who have felt dismissed by the medical community or who have been told, "Your labs look great!" or, "It's all in your head," or even, "You just need to eat less and exercise more," will find a true and understanding friend in Dr. Aviva.Rather than focusing on treating symptoms, Dr. Aviva uses a natural, functional medicine approach to seek out and eliminate the root causes of those symptoms. In the first part of the book, she discusses how our lifestyle, stress level, processed food diets, environmental toxins, and stealth infections have gotten us into the health crisis so many of us women find ourselves in. The book is full of up-to-the-minute research on ideas and concepts that to me were--well, revolutionary! For example, take the critical role our microbiome plays in our health. I enjoyed a fascinating discussion on p. 79 about how harmful gut bacteria can actually make us crave junk food. She also explains the connection between our microbiome health and our susceptibility to mood disorders like anxiety and depression.Next in the book come several symptom questionnaires that allow the reader to discover her own personal root causes, which help her to form her own personalized solutions in the following section. Next, Dr. Aviva provides a practical plan for a quick return to health and vitality--in many cases actually reversing autoimmune disease and other major diagnoses.I had a true lightbulb moment when I read the sections about self-care. As a mother of four small children, I find myself taking care of everyone else first and never finding time to take care of myself. Dr. Aviva gives all of us busy women permission to pause; to take time to nurture and replenish our own emotional, mental, and physical stores. And in doing so, everyone around us benefits too! Also, her words about learning to overcome perfectionism, approval addiction, worry, and scarcity thinking were truly enlightening.In addition to providing a wonderful, nourishing eating plan, Dr. Aviva includes are many, suggestions and resources for using natural herbs and supplements to help the reader in her journey toward better health, and--in some instances such as hypothyroidism--medications when warranted. There is also a wonderful chapter on thyroid health that really helped me decipher my lab results and understand what in the world has been going on with my thyroid.The book is even beautiful to look at, with lovely graphic design and (blue!) color. The recipes I have tried suggest that resetting our diets does not have to mean deprivation--rather, quite the opposite! She has a flourless chocolate cake recipe that I am especially excited to try. I will say that the food plans and combination of recipes was a bit intimidating to me. A true foodie would find herself in foodie heaven, but if you are a kitchen novice, I would recommend that you also read Dr. Alan Christianson's book The Adrenal Reset Diet. His recipes are very simple and could be adapted for Dr. Aviva's program.I am so grateful for the research and hard work that have gone into this wonderful book, and I truly hope it will spark a revolution in women's healthcare. I am currently implementing the program in my life and will try to update this review when I have finally taken back my health.

Clear, complete, and immensely healing!
I have been awaiting arrival of this book since I participated in a gut reset offered by the author last November, and had significant improvements in my health through it. I've suffered chronic illness for 22 years, and Aviva Romm's knowledge in this area has been one of the most helpful tools I've come across. The book is written very clearly, with much respect for the reader, and guidance for so many of the "yeah, but what if" scenarios that make people often not connect with a book. In reading this book, I feel as if I have access to a doctor, it is that clear and pertinent to women's issues, including CFS, Hashimoto's, postpartum issues, general fatigue, digestive issues, overwhelm, migraines, and much more. And, as an amazing bonus, it offers a staggering amount of wonderful recipes for every meal of the day: smoothies, breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks, you name it! I recommend this book highly! Do yourself a favor, and purchase this book - it has much to offer, even for someone who just wants to eat a little better, or improve their self care. It is a well-rounded, sensitive approach to good, healthy living! And, while you're at it, purchase an extra one for someone special!

Amazing Book for All Busy Women not just Thyroid sufferers
This book is amazing. I highly recommend it for all women!! It is amazing, and honestly the self care, nutrition plan, and supplement recommendations can help anything from anxiety, to depression to stress. Anyone that has extra weight they can't shake and some level of fatigue/laziness should read this, as it's most likely a thyroid issue. Exactly what I've wanted and needed from a Dr. only took me 10 years to get all of that information into one detailed, thorough, book. I will say that there is a lot to dissect here, so you really need to go at your own pace. I haven't really started completely because there is a lot of lifestyle changes to make, and personally that takes time. But I've been slowly reading chapter by chapter and making those changes as I go. First step was my diet, which is totally cleaned up. I've been about 60 days now of eating cleaner and already feel better. And I've installed her lifestyle changes with my bedtime and electronics and feeling so much better. I used to be ashamed that I needed 9 hrs of sleep a night, but now I am just accepting it and realizing that it's part of my self care. This book also helped me to understand my Thyroid labs. I really didn't understand the explanations from the Dr.s.

excellent read for folks wondering how to reboot their optimal wellness
An easy read, Dr. Romm sets a tone that informs while being enjoyable and easy to understand. The book is especially good read if you are new to the subject of adrenal and or thyroid function and issue. The book is separated into sections that serve as excellent reference when you refer back to it during your program of reboot, recharge, and repair. Dr. Romm conveys a genuine concern for the readers well-being. She shares her experience, knowledge and support in a well organized, well developed and well worth the read format.

A autora diz que vai propor um método pálpavel, entretante trata-se de um metodo radical onde se corta quase todos os alimentos, inclusive algumas frutas e vegetais e propõe suplementações que não são comprovadas. Eu diria que é radical e contraditório, mas aprendi algumas coisas…

This book literally combines, science, common sense and the god given way we should be living in such a toxic world. I am literally fired up to start this new lifestyle and help others to do the same

Muy completo, interesante, práctico, hecho con amor y pasión.
Llevo siguiendo a Aviva Romm durante un tiempo (blog, podcast, conferencias...) y me parece una grandísima profesional con un conocimiento amplio y profundo sobre la salud, especialmente la de las mujeres. Pero no solo eso; su entusiasmo, su pasión y su fe en lo que hace son altamente contagiosos. Lo que quiere es educar y ayudar, así que todo lo que dice es completamente práctico desde el día uno, pero no para que lo hagas ciegamente, sino para que lo entiendas e integres en tu vida.

This is a great, very informative book even for those without adrenal or thyroid problems. Aviva writes about medical conditions in an easy to understand way. She advocates being responsible for our own health and becoming an educated, rather than trusting, patient who is not afraid to question our doctors and their prescribed medical treatments. She talks common sense about eating habits, vitamin and mineral supplements, and living healthy in every way. The book also includes some delicious recipes! Buy it and join the revolution!!!
