Worked like a charm for applesauce
Got our applesauce ground in half the time with this gadget. It's not hard to crank the mill manually, but this motor will allow you to continue grinding while your hands are occupied with other tasks, like refilling the hopper, etc. Good product.

This electric drive motor works well. Once a load hits it, it is off to the races!
The item works well at first I was fooled by the sound of it bogging down but when it gets under load then the motor kicks in strong and begins to work quicker so at first you think wow this is it then once you start feeding you see the way this motor works is designed for processing.

Improvement on Perfection
For everyone that has used the Victorio model 250 food strainer they know that in the world of processing and canning this machine is as close to perfection as it gets. I have tried several strainer methods over the years to process mostly tomatoes and concord grapes and the most efficient way I have found was the Victorio. My family cans 400-500 assorted Jars a year, so we are pretty serious about it. The only drawback to the Victorio model 250 is that darn crank can get tiresome after a while. Its not as difficult as your Grandpa had it trying to crank start his old model T Ford back in the day, but when you have a lot of food to process and all of your canning equipment operating in the kitchen you don't need any more distractions. This electric drive motor is so easy to plug in to the strainer and go. The motor is very quiet and has a lot of torque to power through any processing needs I have ever encountered. My first thought in buying this motor was to use it on big canning days and to use the crank when I canned just a little bit but take my word for it, I will never take this motor off again because it truly is an improvement on perfection.

Good time saver with a few flaws
I just received this motor and the strainer and used it for the first time this week. I first used my Victorio Vkp1047 Stainless Steel Steam Juicer, 11-1/2-Quart to juice 12 quarts of blueberries and raspberries, then used the Victorio VKP250 Model 250 Food Strainer and Sauce Maker on the remaining fruit mash to cull out some seeds and to mill it to an even texture for use in the dehydrator to make fruit leather. I did also purchase the motor, because I have arthritis from my elbow through my neck and into my jaw, and I must say that I think that the motor is a MUST if you are going to be using this tool regularly! There's no way that I could have cranked all the fruit pulp without the motor - and because I had the motor I went ahead and re-strained the waste to get ALL the good stuff out! I was thrilled with how little food waste I ended up with after juicing and straining the fruit - the waste coming from the strainer was extremely DRY, which of course meant that I was able to extract all of the juicy goodness from our organic produce. I ended up with 23 cups of juice concentrate - translates to 2.75 gallons mixed - and (16) 2 oz. servings of fruit leather - all from roughly 12 pounds of organic fruit that was left over in my freezer from last season. The fruit cost me about $35 in season, and I ended up putting up juice and fruit leather that would have cost me at LEAST $120 to buy organically, so this tool will pay for itself (just in fruit leather) after the first two batches!Assembly is pretty simple with the exception of one thing - attaching the strainer accessory to the main part is pretty stiff and requires a good deal of strength to get it screwed on all the way so that there is no leakage. I am hopeful that with use this will get a little easier, otherwise I will get in the habit of having the hubster attach it for me. The splatter guard works well, but it did seem that the fruit mash was being pushed over the side closest to the body of the tool rather than sliding smoothly down the "chute" into the bowl. Quite possibly this was because the fruit was not as juicy as it would have been had I not already juiced the fruit. Since making fruit leather is one of the primary reasons that I purchased this item I knocked it down by one star. It will be interesting to see how it works with other types of produce as time goes on. This information actually pertains to the strainer itself - the motor was a very simple addition during the assembly process.****Update Dec 24, 2013Well we used this motor on the strainer for about 250 pounds of produce this year, and it is still a wonderful tool to have! I do have the hubster put it together, but since he's there helping me process the food anyway... no biggie. We did figure out the whole leakage issue - operator error! Turns out that I was putting the closest side of the splash guard over the metal piece, when really it goes up over the plastic next to it. That makes a lot more sense if you have the whole thing in front of you. I'm not strong enough to get it over the spot where it really goes, so I just thought it went onto the different part.We strained about 100 pints of applesauce and 40 pints of pear sauce, plus used this to smooth out probably 100-140 cups of fruit to make fruit leather. This was our first go at any of these things, and our applesauce looks and tastes just like the organic applesauce that I was paying $1.79/jar on sale! We were both like giddy kids when the first batch went through the strainer! Our organic fruit leather mostly got saved for winter, when produce options are slim - and this is the best stuff ever! Everyone who's tasted it says that it's better than even the organic (EXPENSIVE) fruit leathers that are sold at the co-op's.FOR CLEANING: We did find that the best practice is to break down the whole machine and wash it between batches, since there was about a 2 hour window between each batch being processed. With a little practice, the whole machine is very quick and easy to take down, clean and reassemble. We haven't had any problems with food getting stuck anywhere. I do use a nail brush (looks like a small hair brush) to clean the sieves and any other nooks and cranny's on other parts, that is what made the biggest difference in speeding up the clean-up process.

One happy NON cranker
Ok Im back,,, just received the food strainer electric drive motor for my strainer I ordered,, man just when you think things couldn't get any easier this thing slid right into place ,,plugged it in and hit the switch and we were up and running ,, I had three bags full of assorted hot peppers and bell peppers left over from making salsa, so I cut the hots in half's and the bells into quarters and removed all the seeds they make everything to hot for me!!!! then I put my new salsa screen on my strainer and started cramming everything in it slowed the motor down some but not to bad but these were all raw peppers, hard skinned peppers!! ,, so 15 minutes later I was done with I might add some real potent salsa concentrate starter for my next batch ,,would have been done a lot sooner if not for deseeding them all ,,victorio you are the best ,,no more cranking for me ,,and for everyone that is still cranking and you have a birthday coming up you know what to ask for ,,if not Christmas is coming for sure ,,,happy canning everybody

Ok for price.
Made of plastic and doesnt fit tightly to the stand. We ended up using a clamp to hold it tight. Really hoping this doesnt break in less than a year since there doesnt seem to be much to it.

Must Have if you have a Victorio!
I cannot imagine using my Victorio without this attachment. The hand crank does work, but it requires a tremendous amount of muscle and effort. This little motor pops right on and does that work for you. If you have or are purchasing a Victorio, I'd strongly suggest you just go ahead and get this to go with it. I don't know why they don't just sell it with the machine to begin with.

This is the greatest!!
I have what I would call a big garden and I preserve a lot. I bought the Watson food strainer a while ago. I can crank for about 10 mins. This lets me do all the separation no problem and much quicker. I do use a band to keep it tight to the strainer but that is minor.

Good little motor
Only used once for 15 liters of tomato sauce. It is a pleasure to use, no sore elbow. Be careful not to feed the machine too fast as it good stuff will be discarded as waste. The only negative thing is the motor is always wobbling. There should be a better mounting mechanism, some way to clamp it to the machine. That arm basically only stop it from rotating and it wobbles on the machine handle receptacle.

nothing
I used this for doing my tomatoes up for sauce. The crank works great, but when you can use a motor option, it is a lot faster and easier on the elbows. Highly recommend it. I did mine out in the garage thinking it was going to be messy. But, I could have done it in my kitchen.

Feels like a heavy duty motor
Haven't used it yet. I powered it up to make sure it works and it has a nice rpm setting and feels sturdy
